Sexual Assault Liaison

The Sexual Assault Liaison, Kristi Gray, is responsible for the review and screening of all cases involving rape, sodomy, sexual abuse or any other aspect of sexual assault, not involving domestic violence or child sexual abuse, that are directly received by this office. This Liaison works closely with law enforcement officers, especially from the Louisville Metro Police Department. Because of the victim-intensive nature of these offenses, the Sexual Assault Liaison proceeds in a sensitive and timely manner to determine if these matters should be referred to the Grand Jury for indictment. If there is enough information to go forward, based on the law and facts, then the case is assigned, on a division rotation basis, to a prosecutor who prepares the case for presentation in court and for trial.

Cases of sexual assault that are related to domestic violence or children are handled by the office’s Special Victims Unit.
