ARRAIGNMENTS

 

  1. Charles Anthony Thompson, III – 07CR3653.  (Murder)  Mr. Thompson (DOB 12/9/85) is charged in connection with the September 30, 2007 shooting death of Bryant Watson outside the City View Park Apartments in Esquire Alley.  Arraignment has already occurred.  A Bond Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 21, Division 2, at 9:45 A.M.  Ruth Lerner is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Beverly Ann Bryant (DOB 9/3/61) / Steven Wayne Bryant (DOB 11/10/60) – 07CR3651.  (BOTH: Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence; S. BRYANT: Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  The defendants are charged in connection with the November 3, 2007 stabbing death of Latour White near Dixie Highway and Lower Hunters Trace.  Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, Division 11, at 2:30 P.M.  David Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Donald James Schmitt – 07CR3620.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Schmitt (DOB 1/18/65) is charged in connection with the October 5, 2007 shooting death of Phillip Eichler who was found in a car in the 1500 block of Larchmont Avenue.  Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, Division 13, at 3:30 P.M.  Jennifer Wilcox is the prosecutor.

 

 

HEARING

 

  1. Charles W. Smith – 07CR1504.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Smith (DOB 8/9/46) is charged in connection with the April 21, 2007 shooting death of Keith Lamont Smith at the Beecher Terrace housing complex in the 400 block of South 12th Street.  A Competency Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, Division 11, at 1:00 P.M.  Jonathan Heck is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Douglas R. Miller, II – 04CR1159.  In June 2004, Mr. Miller (DOB 12/21/82) pleaded guilty to Manslaughter 2nd Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree and was sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the January 1, 2004 motor vehicle collision on St. Catherine St. which resulted in the death of Terry Minton.  In January 2005, he was granted shock probation.  A Revocation Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, Division 2, at 9:15 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Michael P. Higginbotham – 03CR1702.  On June 15, 2004, Mr. Higginbotham (DOB10/31/83) was sentenced 5 years suspended, 5 years supervised probation for 16 counts of Impersonating a Peace Officer related to incidents where he placed harassing phone calls to individuals and falsely told them that tragic happenings had occurred to loved ones.  A Revocation Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, Division 4, at 9:30 A.M.  Jennifer Wilcox is the prosecutor.

 

  1. James Ray Cable – 04CR1003.  (Murder [2 Counts], Rape 1st Degree [2 Counts])  Mr. Cable (DOB 6/27/48) is charged in connection with the 1986 death of Oma Marie Bird and the 1989 death of Helen V. Booth.  A Competency Hearing is scheduled for Friday, November 16, Division 10, at 9:00 A.M.  David Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Marcus Deshon Fresh – 07CR0577.  (Murder, Retaliating Against a Participant in the Legal Process)  Mr. Fresh (DOB 9/6/84) is charged in connection with the February 1, 2007 shooting death of Edrisha Reed on Tuscarora Way in the Iroquois Homes housing complex.  A Status Hearing is scheduled for Friday, November 16, Division 4, at 9:45 A.M.  Christie Foster is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Eddie Bewley – 07CR1888.  (Murder, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Bewley (DOB 10/5/70) is charged in connection with the May 24, 2007 stabbing death of Brandon Mays at an apartment complex off of Champions Trace and Hikes Lane in West Buechel.  A Competency Hearing is scheduled for Friday, November 16, Division 5, at 11:00 A.M.  Jennifer Wilcox is the prosecutor.

 

 

PRE - TRIAL CONFERENCE

 

1.      Juan Kessea Berry – 07CR0558.  (Sodomy 1st Degree, Sexual Abuse 1st Degree)  Mr. Berry (DOB 11/10/71) is charged in connection with the January 30, 2007 abuse of a 14 year old male Meyzeek Middle School student as the victim exited a bus at the intersection of Preston and Broadway streets.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, Division 7, at 9:00 A.M.  Dorislee Gilbert is the prosecutor.

 

2.      Glenn D. Odom – 04CR2521.  (Murder, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree)  Mr. Odom (DOB 11/11/83) is charged in connection with the July 20, 2004 shooting death of Benjamin Smith in the 500 block of South 21st Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, Division 1, at 11:00 A.M.  Jason Butler is the prosecutor.

 

3.      Jared Steen - 07CR2915.  (Murder, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants)  Mr. Steen (DOB 9/30/87) is charged in connection with the May 4, 2007 crash on Crittenden Drive which resulted in the death of Robert Lyle.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, Division 8, at 8:30 A.M.  Chris Hutchison is the prosecutor.

 

4.      Carey D. McNeil (DOB 8/31/86) / Jesus Francisco Solis (DOB 12/6/88) / Antonio Marco Solis-Lopez (DOB 11/14/76) – 07CR0329.  (ALL: Murder [2 Counts], Assault 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree [3 Counts], Kidnapping, Trafficking in Marijuana, Tampering with Physical Evidence; SOLIS-LOPEZ: Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree)  The defendants are charged in connection with the January 12, 2007 shooting deaths of Isaac Vidaurri Perez and Isaias Perez Gallegos at the Jefferson Square Apartments at 5405 Outer Loop.  A third man was also wounded in the incident.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, Division 1, at 9:00 A.M.  David Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

5.      John D. Brown – 07CR0852.  (Murder, Assault 1st Degree)  Mr. Brown (DOB 12/10/85) is charged in connection with the May 7, 2005 shooting death of Van Davis, Jr. and the shooting of another victim in the 1200 block of Broadway.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, Division 11, at 9:00 A.M.  Mark Baker is the prosecutor.

 

6.      Norman G. Smith – 05CR2324.  (Murder)  Mr. Smith (DOB 5/4/85) is charged in connection with the July 28, 2005 shooting death of Rayshon Myers in the 300 block of North 38th Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, Division 9, at 10:15 A.M.  Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

 

7.      Kevin M. Lee – 07CR2580.  (Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [3 Counts], Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree)  Mr. Lee (DOB 11/18/84) is charged in connection with the January 19, 2007 shooting death of Gerardo Morales Sanchez at an apartment on Patrick Henry Road off of National Turnpike.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, Division 3, at 11:00 A.M.  Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

 

8.      Carlos A. Lagantta – 07CR2855.  (Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Lagantta (DOB 10/24/78) is charged in connection with the August 30, 2007 death of Tina Tatro whose body was found in an apartment at 116 E. Burnett Ave.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, November 16, Division 7, at 8:30 A.M.  Jason Butler is the prosecutor.

 

9.      Said Ali Biyad – 06CR3272.  (Murder [4 Counts], Criminal Attempted Murder, Rape 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence [3 Counts])  Mr. Biyad (DOB 1/1/64) is charged in connection with the October 6, 2006 stabbing deaths of his 4 children – Goshany, Khadija, Fatuma and Sidi Ali, ages 2 to 8 – at an apartment in Iroquois Homes.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, November 16, Division 2, at 8:30 A.M.  Carol Cobb is the prosecutor.

 

10.  David W. Ehle – 07CR1517.  (Sodomy 1st Degree, Sexual Abuse 1st Degree [2 Counts], Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor [4 Counts], Distribution of Obscene Matter to Minors)  Mr. Ehle (DOB 10/10/48) is charged in connection with the abuse of a juvenile female member of his family.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, November 16, Division 5, at 9:00 A.M.  Dorislee Gilbert is the prosecutor.

 

 

TRIAL

 

1.      Overson C. Jackson, IV (DOB 10/19/87) / Deshawn Moffett (DOB 4/15/84) – 05CR2022 & 05CR2608.  The defendants are charged with numerous counts involving incidents of rape, kidnapping, robbery and burglary occurring from February through May 2005 throughout Jefferson County.  Mr. Overson is also charged in connection with the April 11, 2005 shooting death of Brandon L. White.  A Trial is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, Division 4, at 2:00 P.M.  Scott Davis and Khalid Kahloon are the prosecutors.

 

 

SENTENCING

 

1.      Brian Jay Redmon – 04CR3651, 05CR0453 & 05CR1664.  Mr. Redmon (DOB 2/26/58) pleaded guilty to Sexual Abuse 1st Degree [9 Counts] and Sodomy 1st Degree [16 Counts] in connection with the abuse of several children at Highland Park Christian Church's day-care center between December 2003 and October 2004.  Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, November 16, Division 12, at 1:30 P.M.  Cheryl Robinson is the prosecutor.
