ARRAIGNMENT

 

  1. Horace E. Downs, III – 09CR2875.  (Murder)  Mr. Downs (DOB 1/15/61) is charged in connection with the September 26, 2009 shooting death of his wife, Mary Downs, in the 5800 block of East Manslick Road.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, October 5, Division 8, at 1:00 P.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Michael A. Whitehead – 09CR2883.  (Murder, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Theft buy Unlawful Taking >$300, Theft of a Legend Drug, Practicing Medicine without a License)  Mr. Whitehead (DOB 8/14/83) is charged in connection with the March 26, 2009 death of his wife, Ashley Whitehead, in the 1700 block of Bonnyville Road.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, October 5, Division 10, at 2:00 P.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

 

HEARING

 

  1. James Ray Cable – 04CR1003.  (Murder [2 Counts], Rape 1st Degree [2 Counts])  Mr. Cable (DOB 6/27/48) is charged in connection with the 1986 death of Oma Marie Bird and the 1989 death of Helen V. Booth.  A Hearing is scheduled for Friday, October 9, Division 10, at 9:00 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

 

PRE - TRIAL CONFERENCE

 

1.      Robert Keith Thornton – 08CR3866.  (Robbery 1st Degree [47 Counts], Violation of a Protective Order, Fleeing or Evading Police)  Mr. Thornton (DOB 5/26/65) is charged in connection with numerous robberies in Jefferson County dating back to 2001 as well as a December 23, 2008 police chase following the robbery of the Wendy’s at 4041 Taylorsville Rd.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, Division 4, at 9:00 A.M.  Erin White is the prosecutor.

 

2.      Antonio Healy (DOB 3/26/80) / Marcus Porter (DOB 11/12/75) – 08CR2115.  (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence; PORTER: Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree; HEALY: Tampering with a Witness, Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree)  The defendants are charged in connection with the March 26, 2008 shooting death of Djuan Swain, who was found in the 1400 block of Beech Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, Division 8, at 9:00 A.M.  Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.

 

3.      Martell D. Bennett – 08CR1148.  (Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Intimidating a Participant in the Legal Process, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Bennett (DOB 1/1/83) is charged in connection with the November 1, 2007 shooting death of Trey Weathers in the front yard of a home in the 800 block of 40th Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, Division 13, at 9:00 A.M.  Nick Neuman is the prosecutor.

 

4.      Crystal Lee Gordon (DOB 12/15/79) / Reginald Grider (DOB 10/23/91) / Damon Phelps (DOB 10/9/92)– 08CR2816 & 08CR3131.  (ALL: Murder, Robbery 1st Degree; GORDON: Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree; GRIDER: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor)  The defendants are charged in connection with the September 12, 2008 shooting death of Cesario Gomez at the Yorktown Apartments in the 7400 block of Garrison Road.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, Division 12, at 9:45 A.M.  Leland Hulbert and Michelle Rudovich are the prosecutors.

 

5.      Tawaiin W. Lewis – 09CR2874.  (Murder [2 Counts], Assault 1st Degree [2 Counts], Criminal Attempted Murder [2 Counts], Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  Mr. Lewis (DOB 10/25/77) is charged in connection with the September 23, 2009 shooting deaths of Jonte Johnson and Quinntin Knighten in an apartment complex on Saddlebrook Lane.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, Division 9, at 1:30 P.M.  Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

 

 

SENTENCING

 

1.      Raymal L. Rivers – 06CR1806.  Mr. Rivers (DOB 10/10/79) was found guilty of Murder and Wanton Endangerment [2 Counts] in connection with the May 27, 2006 shooting death of Larry Johnson in the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot in the 12000 block of Lagrange Road.  Sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, Division 12, at 9:30 A.M.  Katherine Kingren is the prosecutor.
