         NOTE:  These represent only a few of the many cases which the Office of Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney is handling.  If you have any comments, or need further information concerning these or any other matters please do not hesitate to call.

                       

       An indictment is only an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until or unless found guilty.  The enclosed court actions are subject to change.

                       

       According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01) the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place as reasonably soon as possible.  If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, you must contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.   

 

 

ARRAIGNMENT

  1. Erick B. Choate 12CR2719.  (Kidnapping a Minor Victim [2 cts], Kidnapping, Robbery in the Second Degree, Bail Jumping in Second Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police First Degree, Illegal Possession a Controlled Substance, Persistent Felony Offender) Mr. Choate (DOB 5/13/80) is charged in connection with offering a ride home to a victim and her two children after a neighborhood pool party.  The victim states Mr. Choate took them to the Louisville Manor Motel on Dixie highway and demanded they stay there. The victim refused to go and Mr. Choate allegedly became irate and threatened to kill her and her children and then attempted to rob her.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday September 17 at 2:30 in Division 12.  John Balliet is the prosecutor.
  2. Keentay J. Hunter – 12CR2739.  (Murder, Attempted Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Assault in the First Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  On or about July 17, 2012 Mr. Hunter (DOB 4/16/95) led officers on a foot chase from the area of a shooting in which one victim died at the scene and a second victim was transported to the hospital.  During the chase Mr. Hunter allegedly discarded a handgun which was recovered by a K9 officer.  The deft also had a live round in his pocket.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday September 17 at 3:00 P.M. in Division 12.  Chris Hutchison is the prosecutor.
  3. Mahmoud Yousef Hindi – 12CR2772.  (Murder, Burglary in the First Degree, Robbery in the First Degree, Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence) On or about Thursday, September 06, 2012 Louisville Metro Police were dispatched 4601 Springdale Road, Springdale Community Church, on a reported shooting. Upon officer's arrival, they discovered two victims who had been shot during the Spring Creek Homeowner's Association meeting being held at the church and both later died from the shootings.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday September 17 at 3:30 P.M. in Division 13.  Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

 

HEARING

 

  1. Lakendrick E. Charlton (DOB 10/5/91) / Markelle D. White (DOB 8/3/89) – 10CR2815.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  The defendants are charged in connection with the September 8, 2010 shooting death of Lamont Wilson at 27th Street and Elliot Avenue.  A hearing is scheduled for Monday at 1:30 PM in Division 7.  Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.
  2. John C. Koerner – 12CR0772  (Murder, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, DUI, Failure to Stop and Render Aid).  Mr. Pruitt (DOB 10/25/77) is charged in connection with operating a motor vehicle east on Grinstead Dr. near Cherokee when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. The collision caused the rear passenger to be ejected from the side window. The driver and front passenger left the scene after the collision occurred. Officers apprehended them a short distance away. The passenger that was ejected died on February 15, 2012 at University of Louisville hospital. According the witnesses and evidence it shows that the driver was operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.  A Sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday September 17 at 10:00 A.M. in Division 7.  Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.
  3. Sarah Jones (DOB 4/8/85) / Cheryl Jones (DOB 8/2/56) – 12CR0260 (Kenton County).  (SARAH JONES - Sexual Abuse First Degree (By a Person in  a Position of Authority), Unlawful Use of Electronic Means to Induce a Minor to Engage in Sexual or Other Prohibited Activities, CHERYL JONES – Tampering with Physical Evidence.    Sarah Jones is charged in connection with alleged inappropriate sexual contact with a minor student in the same high school where Sarah Jones was a teacher.  Her mother Cheryl Jones is charged with tampering with evidence.  Sarah Jones is a “Ben-Gal” cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals and a former High School teacher.  This incident occurred in Kenton County but due to a conflict between the Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney and a defense attorney for Sarah Jones the matter has been assigned to a special prosecutor out of Jefferson County.  A suppression hearing has been scheduled for Thursday September 21 at 10:00 A.M. in Division 4. Room 6A of Kenton Circuit Court.  Sara Farmer and John Balliet are the prosecutors.

 

 

PRE-TRIAL CONFERENCE

  1. Kari N. Nally (DOB 7/20/77), Tamara Sullivan (DOB 12/11/73 ), Vanessa Burba (DOB 2/6/55), Kendria Gates (DOB 5/8/79), Joyce Grubbs (DOB 2/12/70) - 12CR1707  – (Complicity to Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Nally [12 Counts], Burba [6 cts], Sullivan [9 cts], Gates and Grubbs one count each; Complicity to Obtaining or Attempting to Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud or Deceit Dr. Nally [24 cts]).  Dr. Nally is charged in connection with writing prescriptions for the co-defendants, the co-defendants would then fill the prescriptions and return half of the filled prescriptions to Dr. Nally.  The other half of the filled prescription would be used by the co-defendants.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday September 18, at 9:00 A.M. in Division 7.  John Balenovich is the prosecutor.   
  2. Michael Dawon Hughes – 12CR0523.  (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance-Cocaine, Tampering With Physical Evidence).  Mr. Hughes (DOB 10/13/77) is charged in connection with the shooting death of Michael Walker that occurred on July 24, 2008.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday September 18, at 9:00 A.M. in Division 12Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.
  3. Ricardo D. Taylor - 12CR2381 (Murder [2 counts], Assault First Degree, Kidnapping [3 counts], Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence [2 counts], Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree, Persistent Felony Offender First Degree)  Mr. Taylor  (DOB 11/18/87) is charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of Tela Harvey and Osman Omor and kidnapping and shooting of a third victim at 1035 S. Jackson Street on August 3, 2012, leading to a stand-off with the LMPD SWAT team.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday September 19, at 9:00 a.m. in Division 3. Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.
  4. Timothy R. Hauss – 12CR2190  (Wanton Endangerment First Degree [6 cts], Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, DUI 2nd Offense, Failure to Stop and Render Aid) Mr. Hauss (DOB 6/13/63) is charged in connection with operating a vehicle on or about February 25, 2012 that was involved in an accident with another vehicle with five occupants near Outer Loop.  Mr. Hauss allegedly fled on foot without rendering aid.    Mr. Hauss has a previous DUI from 2007.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday September 19, at 9:15 A.M. in Division 13.  John Balenovich is the prosecutor.
  5. Michael J. Lyles – 12CR0022. (Robbery 1st [5 cts]) Mr. Lyles (DOB 3/23/85) is charged in connection with multiple Kroger pharmacy robberies at gunpoint seeking Opanas. He allegedly entered Kroger pharmacies at 9100 Taylorsville Road, 9812 Linn Station Rd, at 3039 Breckenridge Ln., 10645 Dixie Hwy., 3616 Buechel Bypass between the dates of October 14, 2011 and December 28, 2011.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday September 19, at 10:00 A.M. in Division 11.  Erin White is the prosecutor.
  6. Jules D. Snead – 12CR2051 (Manslaughter Second Degree) Mr. Snead (DOB: 1-8-92) is charged in connection with the shooting death of his sister Jericka Snead after an altercation on or about July 2, 2012.  An Arraignment was held on July 6, and a bond was set at 100,000 /10%.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday September 20, at 9:15 A.M. in Division 2.  Lisa Cartier-Giroux is the prosecutor.
  7. Aaron T. Wallace - 12CR1235. (Robbery in the First Degree, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police Officers in a Motor Vehicle First Degree, Speeding more than 26 mph over the posted speed limit)  Mr. Wallace (DOB 12/21/93) is charged with stealing a car by force at the Meijer on Hurstbourne Parkway then leading police on a four county high speed chase on or about April 17, 2012. An Arraignment was previously held April 18 and a bond was set at 100,000.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday September 20, at 9:15 A.M. in Division 4.  Chris Hutchison is the prosecutor. 
  8. Thomas Lynch – 12CR1102.  (Rape First Degree, Sodomy First Degree [2 cts], Sexual Abuse First Degree [2 cts], Sodomy in the Second Degree) Mr. Lynch (DOB 6/7/64) is charged in connection with the sexual abusing and molesting of his seven year old step- granddaughter.  This alleged abuse occurred from 2005-2011 while she was between the ages of 7 and 13.  Over the years the suspect allegedly rubbed the victim's breast, digitally penetrated her, performed oral sex on her and ejaculating on her.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday September 20, at 9:15 A.M. in Division 2.  Sara Farmer is the prosecutor.
  9. Vaishaliben Patel – 11CR2010.  (State Lottery Fraud)  Ms. Patel (DOB 6/14/83) is charged in connection with the fraudulent handling of Kentucky State lottery tickets.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday September 20, at 10:00 A.M.  in Division 9.  Stacy Greive is the prosecutor.
  10. Robert W. Long, Jr. – 10CR0333.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Abuse of a Corpse, Menacing [2 Counts], Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree)  Mr. Long (DOB 9/7/65) is charged in connection with the January 27, 2010 death of a his 6 week old son whose body was found in a vehicle parked in the 5500 block of Ridgecrest Road A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday September 20, at 1:30 P.M. in Division 9.  Christie Foster is the prosecutor.
