 ARRAIGNMENT

  1. Derrick K. McAtee – 09CR2646.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. McAtee (DOB 5/26/87) is charged in connection with the July 9, 2009 shooting death of Rodney Haskins in the 3400 block of W. Jefferson Street.  Arraignment has already occurred.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, November 16, Division 1, at 9:30 A.M.  Tom Coffee is the prosecutor.

  

HEARING

 

  1. Ronny D. Walker – 07CR3112.  (Murder, Burglary 1st Degree, Tampering with a Witness [2 Counts], Intimidating a Participant in the Legal Process [4 Counts], Tampering with Physical Evidence, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Walker (DOB 1/22/65) is charged in connection with the September 15, 2007 beating death of Derek Anthony Scott in a home in the 4200 block of Fordson Way.  A Status Hearing is scheduled for Monday, September 14, Division 13, at 9:00 A.M.  Christie Foster is the prosecutor.

  

PRE - TRIAL CONFERENCE

 

1.      Keithen Lamont Gaines (DOB 9/28/77) / Kevin Dewayne Gaines (9/28/77) – 08CR2702 & 08CR3445.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence; KEITHEN  Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon)  The defendants are charged in connection with the September 7, 2008 shooting death of Moshawn White in the 700 block of South 24th Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 14, Division 8, at 8:45 A.M.  Frank Dahl is the prosecutor.

 

2.      Crystal Lee Gordon (DOB 12/15/79) / Reginald Grider (DOB 10/23/91) / Damon Phelps (DOB 10/9/92)– 08CR2816 & 08CR3131.  (ALL: Murder, Robbery 1st Degree; GORDON: Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree; GRIDER: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor)  The defendants are charged in connection with the September 12, 2008 shooting death of Cesario Gomez at the Yorktown Apartments in the 7400 block of Garrison Road.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 14, Division 12, at 10:00 A.M.  Leland Hulbert and Michelle Rudovich are the prosecutors.

 

3.      Cecil Eugene New II – 07CR3969.  (Murder, Kidnapping, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 3rd Degree, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. New (DOB 12/25/60) is charged in connection with the death of Cesar Ivan Aguilar Cano whose body was found July 7, 2007 near Fourth Street and Central Avenue  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 14, Division 9, at 11:00 A.M.  Jonathan Heck and Erin White are the prosecutors.

 

4.      Kenneth L. Roberson – 07CR2092.  (Murder, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Roberson (DOB 6/26/61) is charged in connection with the June 8, 2007 death of Keith Mario Reed, Jr. at 24th and Madison streets.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 14, Division 7, at 1:30 P.M.  Stacy Greive is the prosecutor.

 

5.      Ahmad Rashad Gill – 09CR0819.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Gill (DOB 9/29/79) is charged in connection with the December 13, 2008 shooting death of Rahman Woods at a club at 32nd and Hale streets.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, Division 2, at 9:15 A.M.  Thomas Coffey is the prosecutor.

 

6.      Jeffrey M. Bynum – 09CR0828.  (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Bynum (DOB 9/30/81) is charged in connection with the March 10, 2009 shooting death of James DeSpain in the 300 block of North 18th Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, Division 5, at 9:00 A.M.  Evan Spalding is the prosecutor.

 

7.      Herbert Eugene Lee, III – 09CR1095.  (Murder [4 Counts], Receiving Stolen Property >$300, Fleeing or Evading Police, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Operator’s License, Reckless Driving)  Mr. Lee (DOB 4/2/92) is charged in connection with the December 18, 2008 crash at First and Hill streets which resulted in the death of Aaron Shields and brothers Jemar, Demar and Marc Claybrooks.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, Division 3, at 8:30 A.M.  Michelle Rudovich is the prosecutor.

 

8.      Michael L. Knights (DOB 11/9/79) / Jeston Edward Murray (DOB 2/12/82) – 09CR0199.  (Murder [2 Counts], Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence [2 Counts])  The defendants are charged in connection with the December 27, 2008 beating death of Darrell Spencer at a store in the 600 block of W. Main St. and the January 4, 2009 stabbing death of Marcus Penny at an apartment at 3640 Manslick Road.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, Division 12, at 9:00 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

9.      Mitchell K. Westlin – 09CR2191.  (Murder, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree)  Mr. Westlin (DOB 11/4/77) is charged in connection with the December 4, 2008 crash on I-265 which resulted in the death of Max McLeod.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, Division 8, at 9:00 A.M.  Chris Hutchison is the prosecutor.

 

10.  Kenneth Lee Malone – 08CR3680.  (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Malone (DOB 8/7/81) is charged in connection with the November 22, 2008 shooting death of Montez Stewart in the 2100 block of Bolling Avenue.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, September 18, Division 6, at 9:15 A.M.  Frank Dahl is the prosecutor.

 

11.  Matthew E. Vaughn – 09CR1763.  (Murder)  Mr. Vaughn (DOB8/16/88) is charged in connection with the June 7, 2009 beating which resulted in the death of 9 month old Karlie Mellick.  The incident took place at a residence in the 400 block of Inglewood Drive.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, September 18, Division 6, at 11:00 A.M.  Christie Foster is the prosecutor.

 

 

TRIAL

 

1.      Todd M. Brown (DOB 5/13/92) / Leslye M. Harbin (DOB 2/8/92) / Howard M. Williams, Jr. (DOB 12/27/90) - 08CR1045.  (Murder, Assault 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  The defendants are charged in connection with the February 15, 2008 shooting death of Branden Trumbo in a parking lot at 22nd Street and Broadway.  A Trial is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 14, Division 5, at 1:30 P.M.  Michelle Rudovich is the prosecutor.

 

 

SENTENCING

 

1.      James L. Gore, Jr. – 08CR2236.  Mr. Gore (DOB 9/1/90) pleaded guilty to Manslaughter 2nd Degree,  Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor in connection with the May 6, 2008 shooting death of Delshawn Banks at 31st and Young streets.  Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, September 18, Division 2, at 8:30 A.M.  Lisa Cartier Giroux is the prosecutor.
