ARRAIGNMENT

 

  1. Brian W. Sturgeon – 09CR2506.  (Murder)  Mr. Sturgeon (DOB 10/11/73) is charged in connection with the October 4, 1995 stabbing death of Debra Wright in an apartment in the 1900 block of Portland Avenue.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, August 31, Division 7, at 11:30 A.M.  Mark Baker is the prosecutor.

 

 

HEARING

 

  1. Johnny Lee Allen (DOB 11/9/87) / James A. Clark (DOB 4/29/89) – 07CR1219.  (Murder [2 Counts], Robbery 1st Degree [2 Counts], Theft by Unlawful Taking >$300, Tampering with Physical Evidence [2 Counts])  The defendants are charged in connection with the February 2, 2007 deaths of Anthony Howze and Ashley Yennes whose bodies were found in a car in an alley off of Beecher Street.  A Hearing is scheduled for Monday, August 31, Division 2, at 1:30 P.M.  Mark Baker is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Gail Lynn Coontz – 08CR1574.  (Murder [2 Counts], Tampering with Physical Evidence, Terroristic Threatening, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  Ms. Coontz (DOB 7/8/70) is charged in connection with the March 27, 2008 shooting death of her two children, Greg and Nikki, whose bodies were found in her home on Settle Boulevard in Okolona.  She is also charged in connection with an incident at the University of Louisville health services counseling center.  A Status Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, Division 5, at 11:00 A.M.  Dorislee Gilbert is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Frederick W. Davis – 09CR0399.  (Murder, Wanton Endangerment [2 Counts], Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Davis (DOB 10/1/90) is charged in connection with the February 4, 2009 shooting death of James F. Allen near the Beecher Terrace housing complex.  A Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, Division 9, at 10:00 A.M.  Erin White is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Apollo R. Avery (DOB 4/9/86) / Demetrous L. Brown (DOB 7/23/88) - 08CR1586.  (Murder, Assault 1st Degree, Assault 4th Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [8 Counts], Tampering with Physical Evidence)  The defendants are charged in connection with the May 10, 2008 shooting death of Timothy Barbour which occurred on a TARC bus at 10th Street and Broadway.   A Competency Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, Division 3, at 1:00 P.M.  Michelle Rudovich is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Robert L. Stanley, Jr. – 08CR3858.  (Murder)  Mr. Stanley (DOB 10/14/60) is charged in connection with the December 19, 2008 stabbing death of Charles Ray Stanley outside a residence in the 7400 block of Blue Wing Drive.  A Hearing is scheduled for Friday, September 4, Division 1, at 11:00 A.M.  John Balliet is the prosecutor.

 

 

PRE - TRIAL CONFERENCE

 

1.      Joe N. Gaither (DOB 10/23/78) / Emmanuel Belten, Jr. (DOB 7/17/72) / Edward Cecil, Jr. (DOB 1/21/80) / Felix Centeno (DOB 10/26/63) / Kevin E. Williams (DOB 10/7/69) - 09CR2266.  (Murder; GAITHER:Tampering with Physical Evidence)  The defendants are charged in connection with the August 19, 2008 shooting death of Antonio Tharp in the 400 block of Wilberforce Court in the Beecher Terrace public housing complex.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, August 31, Division 11, at 1:30 P.M.  Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.

 

2.      John E. Belden – 09CR1634.  (Murder, Assault 1st Degree [2 Counts], Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [7 Counts], Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Violation of a Protective Order)  Mr. Belden (DOB 2/12/88) is charged in connection with the May 31, 2009 crash which resulted in the death of 3 year old Samyah Johnson on Blue Lick Road.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, Division 10, at 9:30 A.M.  Chris Hutchison and Frank Dahl are the prosecutors.

 

3.      Amy Arden (DOB 3/1/87) / Thomas Wayne Mercurio (DOB 9/9/83) – 08CR3810.  (Murder, Arson 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Receiving Stolen Property >$300, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  The defendants are charged in connection with the December 19, 2008 death of Larry Seigle whose body was found near a fire in a home in the 700 block of M Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, Division 8, at 8:30 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

4.      David Wayne Brown – 08CR3548.  (Murder, Fetal Homicide 1st Degree, Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree)  Mr. Brown (DOB 1/29/80) is charged in connection with the November 23, 2008 death of Natasha Sutton at an apartment in the 4300 block of Shady Villa Drive.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, Division 3, at 9:00 A.M.  Katherine Kingren is the prosecutor.

 

5.      Kenneth Lee Malone – 08CR3680.  (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Malone (DOB 8/7/81) is charged in connection with the November 22, 2008 shooting death of Montez Stewart in the 2100 block of Bolling Avenue.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, Division 6, at 9:30 A.M.  Frank Dahl is the prosecutor.

 

6.      Joseph Allen Starcher – 09CR1214.  (Criminal Attempted Murder, Assault 1st Degree [3 Counts], Disarming a Peace Officer, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [2 Counts], Resisting Arrest, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance)  Mr. Starcher (DOB 9/8/84) is charged in connection with an April 8, 2009 incident at a home off Old Sheperdsville Road which resulted in the wounding of a Metro Police officer.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, September 4, Division 7, at 8:30 A.M.  Christie Foster is the prosecutor.

 

 

TRIAL

 

1.      David Jason Stinson – 09CR0207 & 09CR2419.  (Reckless Homicide, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  Mr. Stinson (DOB 9/16/72) is charged in connection with the August 23, 2008 death of Max Gilpin who collapsed at an August 20, 2008 football practice at Pleasure Ridge Park High School.  A Trial is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 31, Division 12, at 1:00 P.M.  Leland Hulbert and Jon Heck are the prosecutors.

 

 

SENTENCING

 

1.      Octavin J. McCraw (DOB 5/28/91) – 08CR2195.  ()  Mr. McCraw (DOB 5/28/91) pleaded guilty to Murder, Robbery 1st Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence in connection with the May 17, 2008 shooting death of Jamie E. Fey, Jr. in the 6600 block of Stana Drive.  Sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, Division 4, at 9:45 A.M.  Michelle Rudovich is the prosecutor.

 

2.      Geno Anthony Robbins – 08CR3742.  Mr. Robbins (DOB 9/5/86) pleaded guilty to Manslaughter 2nd Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence in connection with the December 15, 2008 shooting death of Theodore Weathers who was found in an alley near 26th and Rowan streets.  Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, Division 2, at 9:00 A.M.  Angela Johnson is the prosecutor.
