PRE - TRIAL CONFERENCE

1.      Patrick Burke – 08CR0682.  (Escape 2nd Degree, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Burke (DOB 2/14/54), who was serving a 25 year sentence for Robbery, Burglary and Criminal Syndication, is charged with escape for leaving a half way house where he was serving his sentence.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, June 2, Division 8, at 10:45 A.M.  Todd Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

2.      Demetrius Lashawn Bradley (DOB 10/13/83) /  Antonio Giles Ellison (DOB 9/26/89) – 07CR1403 & 07CR2286.  (BOTH: Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence; BRADLEY: Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree; ELLISON: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor)  The defendants are charged in connection with the April 13, 2207 shooting death of Larry Pearson in the 3400 block of Boxelder Road.  Another victim was also shot in this incident.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, Division 9, at 8:30 A.M.  Mark Baker is the prosecutor.

 

3.      Cory M. Gibson – 07CR1287.  (Murder, Sodomy 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Gibson (DOB 2/25/86) is charged in connection with the April 5, 2007 strangulation death of ZoAnn McCampbell, whose body was found in a parking lot in the area of Manslick Road and Crums Lane.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, Division 4, at 9:45 A.M.  David Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

4.      Apollo R. Avery (DOB 4/9/86) / Demetrous L. Brown (DOB 7/23/88) - 08CR1586.  (Murder, Assault 1st Degree, Assault 4th Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [8 Counts], Tampering with Physical Evidence)  The defendants are charged in connection with the May 10, 2008 shooting death of Timothy Barbour which occurred on a TARC bus at 10th Street and Broadway.    A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, Division 3, at 8:30 A.M.  Artie McLaughlin is the prosecutor.

 

5.      Kevin M. Lee – 07CR2580.  (Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [3 Counts], Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree)  Mr. Lee (DOB 11/18/84) is charged in connection with the January 19, 2007 shooting death of Gerardo Morales Sanchez at an apartment on Patrick Henry Road off of National Turnpike.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, Division 3, at 8:45 A.M.  Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

 

6.      Martin W. Hughes – 08CR0511.  (Murder [2 Counts], Abuse of Corpse [2 Counts], Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Hughes (DOB 10/9/87) is charged in connection with the February 2, 2008 shooting deaths of Laura Hughes and Tessa Hughes in a home in the 4700 block of Zilma Drive.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, Division 3, at 9:15 A.M.  Dorislee Gilbert is the prosecutor.

 

7.      Henry A. Booker, Jr. – 08CR0121.  (Murder, Arson 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Abuse of Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  Mr. Booker (DOB 8/29/70) is charged in connection with the January 2, 2008 death of James Happel whose body was found in a burning home in the 600 block of Iowa Avenue.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, Division 12, at 9:15 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

8.      Gabriel D. Nelson – 08CR0382.  (Murder, Assault 2nd Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree [2 Counts], Reckless Driving, Speeding >26 MPH Over, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Nelson (DOB 5/10/76) is charged in connection with the January 22, 2008 crash on Taylor Boulevard which resulted in the death of Latonia Mitchell.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, Division 3, at 11:15 A.M.  Chris Hutchison and Nick Neumann are the prosecutors.

 

9.      Eric M. Ward (DOB 8/14/87) / Henry Lamont Gunn (DOB 5/9/84) / Steven Paulley (DOB 11/1/85) / Eric Taylor (DOB 12/19/86)– 07CR2455, 07CR2651 & 07CR2924.  (Murder, Burglary 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [9 Counts] Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [9 Counts]; Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon)  The defendants are charged in connection with the June 6, 2007 shooting death of Rocky Brown at a home in the 4000 block of Caspian Drive.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, June 6, Division 8, at 8:15 A.M.  Erin White is the prosecutor.

 

10.  James Quisenberry, Jr. (DOB 2/20/81) / Kenneth Williams (DOB 4/1/85) – 07CR2791.  (Murder, Attempted Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon)  The defendants are charged in connection with the May 18, 2006 shooting death of Earon Harper and the shooting injury of then 2 year old Erica Hughes in the 1700 block of Wilson Ave.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, June 6, Division 2, at 8:45 A.M.  Jon Heck is the prosecutor.

 

11.  Adam Anthony Barker – 07CR0691.  (Murder, Criminal Attempted Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence [2 Counts], Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree)  Mr. Barker (DOB 11/13/81) is charged in connection with the October 12, 2003 shooting death of Zachary Scarpellini in the 1200 block of Cherokee Road at Longest Road.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, June 6, Division 6, at 9:00 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

 

TRIAL

 

1.      Michael D. Stewart – 07CR0863.  (Murder, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants)  Mr. Stewart (DOB 7/25/83) is charged in connection with the November 17, 2006 wreck on Shelbyville Road at Beckley Station Road which resulted in the death of Andrew Wagner, who was a passenger in the car.  A Trial is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, Division 1, at 10:00 A.M.  Chanda Gault is the prosecutor.

 

 

SENTENCING

 

1.      James B. Skaggs – 06CR3125.  Mr. Skaggs (DOB 12/4/46), a former teacher at West Point Independent School, was found guilty of Sodomy 3rd Degree [3 Counts] in connection with the abuse of a 13 year old female victim in 1977 and 1978.  Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, June 6, Division 13, at 10:00 A.M.  Jon Heck is the prosecutor.
