ARRAIGNMENTS

 

  1. Louis M. Smith – 08CR1287.  (Knowing Exploitation of an Adult, Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property [2 Counts], Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument [2 Counts], Tampering with a Witness, Tampering with Public Records, Unauthorized Practice of Law)  Mr. Smith (DOB 11/1/48) is charged in connection with the mishandling of funds for clients.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, April 21, Division 1, at 8:30 A.M.  Todd Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

 

PRE - TRIAL CONFERENCE

 

2.      Jesse Gilbert – 07CR2959.  (Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Forgery 1st Degree, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Theft by Unlawful Taking <$300, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance)  Mr. Gilbert (DOB 12/14/75) is charged in connection with the July 1, 2007 strangling death of Dennis Kellems, whose body was found July 14 at his home in the 4200 block of South Second Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, April 21, Division 13, at 11:00 A.M.  Jason Butler is the prosecutor.

 

3.      Martha Bowmer – 07CR2069.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Ms. Bowmer (DOB 2/29/56) is charged in connection with the June 9, 2007 shooting death of William Jones in the 400 block of South 20th Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, April 21, Division 11, at 1:00 P.M.  Katherine Kingren is the prosecutor.

 

4.      Aaron Stout – 08CR0290.  (Murder, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree)  Mr. Stout (DOB 10/23/81) is charged in connection with an August 5, 2006 wreck which resulted in the death of Michael Anthony Strum on New LaGrange Road.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, Division 10, at 9:15 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

5.      James D. McAtee – 07CR4189.  (Murder)  Mr. McAtee (DOB 12/17/49) is charged in connection with the December 11, 2007 stabbing death of John McAtee at an apartment in the 1900 block of Magazine Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, Division 9, at 9:00 A.M.  Katherine Kingren is the prosecutor.

 

6.      Mary Ellen Tyndall – 07CR3534.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Ms. Tyndall (DOB 8/26/54) is charged in connection with the October 19, 2007 bludgeoning death of her husband, Nara Tyndall, at their home in the 1300 block of Dixie Highway.  A Pre-Trial Conferenceis scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, Division 1, at 9:00 A.M.  Kristen Poindexter is the prosecutor.

 

7.      Triva Hogan – 07CR2784.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Ms. Hogan (DOB 7/31/71) is charged in connection with the August 18, 2007 stabbing death of Willie James Sweet in the 600 block of South 34th Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23 Division 6, at 10:15 A.M.  Dorislee Gilbert is the prosecutor.

 

8.      William O. Ayers – 07CR2525.  (Perjury 1st Degree, Acting as a Bail Bondsman)  Mr. Ayers (DOB 5/17/47), an attorney, is charged in connection with the posting of bond for clients.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, April 25, Division 4, at 8:45 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

9.      Donald James Schmitt – 07CR3620.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Schmitt (DOB 1/18/65) is charged in connection with the October 5, 2007 shooting death of Phillip Eichler who was found in a car in the 1500 block of Larchmont Avenue.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Friday, April 25, Division 13, at 9:00 A.M.  Jennifer Wilcox is the prosecutor.

 

 

TRIAL

 

1.      Walter Lee Colbert (DOB 9/23/73) / Lamont Roberts (DOB 4/16/63) – 06CR4034.  (Murder, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs; ROBERTS: Possession of Cocaine; COLBERT: Operating on a Revoked Operators License)  The defendants are charged in connection with the October 21, 2006 wreck in the 2600 block of Dixie Highway which resulted in the death of Jessica McCawley.  A Trial is tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 21, Division 6, at 1:00 P.M.  Chris Hutchison is the prosecutor.

 

2.      Chyralle D. Malone  – 05CR3651.  (Murder, Robbery 1st Degree)  Mr. Malone (DOB 4/9/73) is charged in connection with the December 4, 2005 shooting death of Deandre Anthony in an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Boxelder Road.  A Trial is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, Division 1, at 10:00 P.M.  Mark Baker is the prosecutor.

 

 

SENTENCING

 

1.      Larry D. Watts – 07CR1595.  Mr. Watts (DOB 11/21/52) was found guilty of Manslaughter 2nd Degree in connection with the April 27, 2007 shooting death of Clifton Joines at 1926 Goldsmith Lane, in the Turtle Creek apartment complex.  Sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, Division 12, at 9:30 A.M.  Jonathan Heck is the prosecutor.
