ARRAIGNMENTS

 

  1. Gabriel D. Nelson – 08CR0382.  (Murder, Assault 2nd Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree [2 Counts], Reckless Driving, Speeding >26 MPH Over, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Nelson (DOB 5/10/76) is charged in connection with the January 22, 2008 crash on Taylor Boulevard which resulted in the death of Latonia Mitchell.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, February 4, Division 3, at 9:30 A.M.  Chris Hutchison is the prosecutor.

 

 

HEARING

 

  1. Johnny Lee Allen (DOB 11/9/87) / James A. Clark (DOB 4/29/89) – 07CR1219.  (Murder [2 Counts], Robbery 1st Degree [2 Counts], Theft by Unlawful Taking >$300, Tampering with Physical Evidence [2 Counts])  The defendants are charged in connection with the February 2, 2007 deaths of Anthony Howze and Ashley Yennes whose bodies were found in a car in an alley off of Beecher Street.  A Suppression Hearing is scheduled for Monday, February 4, Division 2, at 1:30 P.M.  Scott Davis is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Cecil Eugene New II – 07CR3969.  (Murder, Kidnapping, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 3rd Degree, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. New (DOB 12/25/60) is charged in connection with the death of Cesar Ivan Aguilar Cano whose body was found July 7, 2007 near Fourth Street and Central Avenue.  A Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, Division 9, at 8:30 A.M.  Jonathan Heck and Christie Floyd are the prosecutors.

 

  1. Raymal L. Rivers – 06CR1806.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Wanton Endangerment [12 Counts])  Mr. Rivers (DOB 10/10/79) is charged in connection with the May 27, 2006 shooting death of Larry Johnson in the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot in the 12000 block of Lagrange Road.  A Competency Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, Division 12, at 9:00 A.M.  Artie McLaughlin is the prosecutor.

 

  1. Kenneth S. Kurz – 06CR3526.  (Murder, Knowing Abuse or Neglect of an Adult by a Caretaker)  Mr. Kurz (DOB 7/31/56) is charged in connection with the death of his mother, Susanna Kurz, at their home in the St. Matthews area.  A Status Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, February 7, Division 5, at 10:00 A.M.  Todd Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

 

PRE - TRIAL CONFERENCE

 

1.      Beverly Ann Bryant (DOB 9/3/61) / Steven Wayne Bryant (DOB 11/10/60) – 07CR3651.  (BOTH: Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence; S. BRYANT: Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  The defendants are charged in connection with the November 3, 2007 stabbing death of Latour White near Dixie Highway and Lower Hunters Trace.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, February 4, Division 11, at 9:00 A.M.  David Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

2.      John Thomas Jones – 07CR1651.  (Murder)  Mr. Jones (DOB 9/26/86) is charged in connection with the April 30, 2007 shooting death of James Bland at the B-Line Food Mart at 3507 W. Broadway.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, February 4, Division 10, at 10:00 A.M.  Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.

 

3.      Michael W. Priddy (DOB 1/13/85) / Joseph Reno (DOB 1/19/85) – 07CR3446.  (Rape 1st Degree, Sodomy 1st Degree [2 Counts], Kidnapping [2 Counts], Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree [2 Counts])  The defendants are charged in connection with an October 13, 2007 attack on a couple following a break in of a home in the area of Fern Valley and Old Shepherdsville roads.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, February 4, Division 3, at 11:00 A.M.  Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.

 

4.      Walter Lee Colbert (DOB 9/23/73) / Lamont Roberts (DOB 4/16/63) – 06CR4034.  (Murder, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs; ROBERTS: Possession of Cocaine; COLBERT: Operating on a Revoked Operators License)  The defendants are charged in connection with the October 21, 2006 wreck in the 2600 block of Dixie Highway which resulted in the death of Jessica McCawley.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Monday, February 4, Division 6, at 1:00 P.M.  Chris Hutchison is the prosecutor.

 

5.      James D. McAtee – 07CR4189.  (Murder)  Mr. McAtee (DOB 12/17/49) is charged in connection with the December 11, 2007 stabbing death of John McAtee at an apartment in the 1900 block of Magazine Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, Division 9, at 9:00 A.M.  Katherine Kingren is the prosecutor.

 

6.      Henry A. Booker, Jr. – 08CR0121.  (Murder, Arson 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Abuse of Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree)  Mr. Booker (DOB 8/29/70) is charged in connection with the January 2, 2008 death of James Happel whose body was found in a burning home in the 600 block of Iowa Avenue.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, Division 12, at 9:15 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

7.      Andrew Cochran (DOB 9/27/80) / Damon Talbert (DOB 8/29/83) – 07CR2782.  (Murder, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree)  The defendants are charged in connection with the August 19, 2007 shooting death of Jamar Payne in an apartment in the De Soto Terrace housing complex.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, Division 10, at 9:45 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

8.      Kenneth L. Roberson – 07CR2092.  (Murder, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Persistent Felony Offender 1st Degree)  Mr. Roberson (DOB 6/26/61) is charged in connection with the June 8, 2007 death of Keith Mario Reed, Jr. at 24th and Madison streets.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, Division 7, at 8:30 A.M.  Artie McLaughlin is the prosecutor.

 

9.      Lloyd Hammond – 06CR2087.  (Murder [2 Counts], Burglary 1st Degree, Kidnapping)  Mr. Hammond (DOB 10/20/85) is charged in connection with the June 3, 2006 shooting death of William Sawyers in the 2000 block of West Market Street and the June 17, 2006 shooting death of Kerry Williams in the 700 block of South 23rd Street.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, Division 7, at 9:00 A.M.  Tom Van De Rostyne is the prosecutor.

 

10.  Eddie Bewley – 07CR1888.  (Murder, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Bewley (DOB 10/5/70) is charged in connection with the May 24, 2007 stabbing death of Brandon Mays at an apartment complex off of Champions Trace and Hikes Lane in West Buechel.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, Division 5, at 10:00 A.M.  Jennifer Wilcox is the prosecutor.

 

11.  Cory M. Gibson – 07CR1287.  (Murder, Sodomy 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Gibson (DOB 2/25/86) is charged in connection with the April 5, 2007 strangulation death of ZoAnn McCampbell, whose body was found in a parking lot in the area of Manslick Road and Crums Lane.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, February 7 Division 4, at 9:00 A.M.  David Lewis is the prosecutor.

 

12.  Donald James Schmitt – 07CR3620.  (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)  Mr. Schmitt (DOB 1/18/65) is charged in connection with the October 5, 2007 shooting death of Phillip Eichler who was found in a car in the 1500 block of Larchmont Avenue.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, February 7, Division 13, at 9:00 A.M.  Jennifer Wilcox is the prosecutor.

 

13.  Joshua W. Terry – 08CR0002.  (Murder)  Mr. Terry (DOB 8/22/88) is charged in connection with the December 22, 2007 strangulation death of John Patrick Brady whose body was found in a grassy area in the Floyd Street and Broadway area.  A Pre-Trial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, February 7, Division 12, at 9:00 A.M.  Lisa Cartier Giroux is the prosecutor.

 

 

SENTENCING

 

1.      Overson C. Jackson, IV (DOB 10/19/87) / Deshawn Moffett (DOB 4/15/84) – 05CR2022 & 05CR2608.  The defendants were found guilty of numerous counts involving incidents of rape, kidnapping, sodomy, robbery and burglary occurring from February through May 2005 throughout Jefferson County.  Sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, Division 4, at 9:00 A.M.  Michelle Grant Rudovich, Todd Lewis and Scott Davis are the prosecutors.

 

2.      Todd E. Smith – 06CR1444.  Mr. Smith (DOB 5/15/70) pleaded guilty to Theft By Deception [10 Counts] and Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property >$300in connection with the mishandling of charitable funds intended for ALS related causes.  Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, February 8, Division 3, at 9:00 A.M.  Todd Lewis is the prosecutor.
