According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment. If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.
Abdi Noor – 18CR2392 (Reckless Homicide, Possession of a Handgun by a Minor)
- On August 28, 2018, in Division 3 of Jefferson Circuit Court, Mr. Noor (DOB 03/06/02) entered a plea of guilty as indicted for the shooting death of Prince Zreeyah. This tragedy occurred on March 5, 2018, when Mr. Noor and his friend Mr. Zreeyah were present at an apartment complex at 7300 Cogan Boulevard near New Cut and Southside Drive. According to Mr. Noor and witness statements, a white car pulled up in the parking lot, and shots were exchanged between the occupants of the white car Mr. Noor and Mr. Zreeyah. The white car immediately fled, and the occupants have not been identified. In the exchange of gunfire, Mr. Noor and Mr. Zreeyah were both shot, the latter fatally. When the bullet recovered during the autopsy was compared to the other ballistic evidence from the scene, detectives realized it came from Mr. Noor’s gun. Mr. Noor was sentenced to five years on Reckless Homicide and twelve months for Possession of a Handgun by a Minor and was placed in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice at a secure detention facility where he will undergo the juvenile treatment program. He has the opportunity to request probation from the court upon completion of treatment or at his eighteenth birthday, whichever occurs first. Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.
Darrell Ditto – 17CR0277 (Murder)
- Mr. Ditto (DOB 09/05/93) was charged with the January 19, 2017 death of Z.W., a six-year old child who was in his care. On August 22, 2018, Mr. Ditto entered a guilty plea to the charge and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Chris Foster is the prosecutor.
James Mallory, Anthony L. Hogan Jr., and Cannon Pendegrass – 12CR1317 (Murder, Burglary in the First Degree)
- Mr. Mallory (DOB 09/05/82), Mr. Hogan, (DOB 06/16/93), and Mr. Pendegrass (DOB 12/14/89) are charged with the April 11, 2012 Murder of 15 year old Gregory Holt Jr. inside his home. Mr. Mallory’s case has been severed from his two co-defendants and will be tried individually. A hearing for pretrial motions in Mr. Mallory’s case is scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Division 12 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Dorislee Gilbert and Madison Shoffner are the prosecutors.
Tiffany James– 17CR1937 (Murder)
- Ms. James (DOB 03/17/98) is charged in connection with the June 26, 2017 stabbing death of a 14 year old girl at the Speedway in Portland. A Jury Trial is scheduled to begin on September 4, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in Division 8 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Stacy Greive and Milja Zgonjanin are the assigned prosecutors.
