According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment. If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.

ARRAIGNMENTS

Tiffany James– 17CR1937 (Murder)

  • Ms. James (DOB 03/17/98) is charged in connection with the June 26, 2017 stabbing death of a 14 year old girl at the Speedway in Portland.  The Grand Jury returned an indictment on July 6, 2017. The defendant was arraigned on Friday, July 7, 2017.  A bond hearing will take place on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in Division 8 of Jefferson Circuit Court. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  Stacy Greive is the prosecutor.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

Bud Thomas Jenkins Jr. – 17CR1264 (Burglary in the Third Degree [11 Counts], Criminal Possession of a Forged Prescription, Attempt to Obtain Controlled Substance by Fraud or Deceit)

  • Mr. Jenkins (DOB 02/13/65) is charged with a string of Burglaries occurring from November 17, 2016 to November 28, 2016. Often caught on store surveillance, Mr. Jenkins burglarized eight different businesses, hitting several businesses multiple times, using the same means of entry. A pretrial conference is scheduled for July 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Madison Shoffner is the prosecutor.

HEARINGS

Robert Lee Ray, Jr. and Angela R. Chancellor– 17CR1824 (Robbery in the First Degree [Ray 17 Counts; Chancellor 8 Counts], Burglary in the First Degree [3 Counts] Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree [Ray])

  • Mr. Ray (DOB 06/28/78) and Ms. Chancellor (07/02/82) are charged in connection with a string of armed robberies of individuals that began on June 12, 2017 and continued until their arrest on June 17, 2017.   The Grand Jury returned an indictment on June 27, 2017. A bond hearing for both defendants is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Stacy Greive is the prosecutor.

PLEAS

Kenneth Leon Pope – 15CR1906 (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)

  • Mr. Pope (DOB 05/12/98) is charged with the July 4, 2015, shooting death of Mr. Tyron Jones in the 400 block of South 12th Street. A plea is scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Jennifer Murzyn Yancey is the prosecutor.
