According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment. If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.
Antonio D. Mitchell, Vontre T. Murphy, and Dajohn M. Roberts – 17CR1650 (Robbery in the First Degree [5 Counts Murphy and Roberts] [4 Counts Mitchell])
- Mr. Mitchell (DOB 03/29/96), Mr. Murphy (DOB 03/18/97), and Mr. Roberts (DOB 08/04/96) are charged in connection to a string of robberies occurring between May 18, 2017 and May 29, 2017. The Defendants are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Madison Shoffner is the prosecutor.
John D. Pierce and Anthony Lee Crockett – 16CR0489 (Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor [Twenty Counts, Crockett] [One Count, Pierce])
- Mr. Pierce (DOB 08/10/76) entered a plea of guilty to possessing one item of child pornography. Mr. Crockett (DOB 10/31/56) entered a plea of guilty to possessing twenty (20) items of child pornography. The Kentucky State Police led the investigation. The Commonwealth is recommending four (4) years for Mr. Pierce and seven (7) years for Mr. Crockett in exchange for their guilty plea. Final Sentencing has been set for Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. in Division 13 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Courtney Straw is the Prosecutor.
Trice Alexander Whaley, 15CR1742 (Murder, Robbery in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Intimidating a Participant in the Legal Process, and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)
- Mr. Whaley (DOB 07/09/93) is charged with robbing and killing Mr. Brandon Bryant on June 11, 2015. Mr. Bryant’s body was found in an alley behind 3014 W. Chestnut Street. A trial is scheduled to begin the morning of June 13, 2017 in Division 6 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.
