A defendant is presumed innocent until or unless found guilty. The enclosed court actions are subject to change.

According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment. If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.

ARRAIGNMENTS

Anjuan Carter – 16CR2681 (Murder [Three Counts] and Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Mr. Carter (DOB 12/18/00) is charged for his role in the May 4th killing of Christopher Jones and the May 22nd killings of Larry Ordway and Maurice Gordon.  Brice Rhodes has already been charged with these crimes under separate indictment.  Mr. Carter will be arraigned Monday morning at 8:30 in Division 1 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.

Lequavion A. Seabrooks – 16CR2675 (Robbery in the First Degree, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree [Five Counts], Fleeing or Evading Police in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Seabrooks (DOB 2/10/1998) is being arraigned in connection with a September 26, 2016 car-jacking occurring at the Greyhound bus station at 7th and Muhammad Ali Blvd.  The defendant wearing a mask approached the victim’s car from behind and pointed a small black handgun at the victim and demanded that the victim run several times.  The defendant then entered the car and fled west down.  He struck a police cruiser head on while going the wrong direction. He drove onto a sidewalk destroying several parking meetings and continued to flee.   Ultimately, he crashed into three parked vehicles resulting in thousands of dollars of damage.  He then jumped out and continued to flee on foot where he was eventually captured by police.  Mr. Seabrooks will be arraigned Monday morning at 10:00 am in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Critt Cunningham is the prosecutor.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

Ashish Ashok Parekh – 15CR2667 (Unlawful Use of Electronic Means to Induce a Minor to Engage In Sexual or Other Prohibited Activities)

  • Mr. Parekh (DOB 4/22/82) is charged with one count of Unlawful Use of Electronic Means to Induce a Minor to Engage In Sexual or Other Prohibited Activities.  Mr. Parekh allegedly answered a Craig’s List advertisement from a person he believed to be a 15 year old girl. He communicated with her electronically over several days, including through the use of the Kik messenger app.  He later arranged to meet her for sexual contact.  When Mr. Parekh arrived to meet the 15 year old girl for sex, he discovered the person with whom he had been communicating was actually an investigator with the Attorney General’s Office.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11th at 9:00 am in Division 9 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Adrienne Henderson is the prosecutor.

BJ Starlight – 16CR0335 (Escape in the Second Degree)

  • Mr. Starlight (DOB 2/28/51) is charged with escaping custody on January 19, 2016, when he failed to return to CCC from a release and was located 8 days later in Madison County, Kentucky. Mr. Starlight has a lengthy criminal history including shooting a Kentucky State Police Officer in 1977 and leading police on a four county police chase in 2012.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for Monday, October 10 at 9:45 in Division 12 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Jennifer Murzyn Yancey is the prosecutor.
