According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment. If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.
Eric Lee Anthony – 16CR1742 (Murder [Two Counts], Assault in the First Degree [Two Counts], Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the First Degree—Heroin, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the First Degree—Methamphetamine, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [Three Counts])
- Mr. Anthony (DOB 9/16/92) is accused of using a handgun to shoot at seven individuals located at 2802 Rodman Street, near Churchill Downs, on June 21, 2016. Mr. Anthony killed two victims, shot an additional two victims and endangered the lives of three more people inside the house. Mr. Anthony is a convicted felon and was released by the Kentucky Department of Corrections in April of 2016 on mandatory re-entry supervision following a prison sentence for an Assault in the Second Degree charge. The case has been arraigned and a Pretrial Conference is scheduled for Monday, August 8, 2016 at 8:30 am, in Jefferson County Circuit Courtroom Division 7. Ryane Conroy is the Prosecutor.
Juan Carlos Ortega-Santos – 16CR1777 (Murder [Two Counts], Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [Two Counts], Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Intoxicants, Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License, No Motor Vehicle Insurance.
- The Defendant (DOB 6/20/90) has been indicted in connection with vehicular homicides. Officer’s Wachowiak and Eichberger was dispatched to an injury accident involving a vehicle and pedestrians. Upon their arrival they found a deceased victim and another victim was in serious condition, and later succumb to the injuries. Both victims were juveniles. The defendant was transported to Baptist Hospital East Hospitals. There, EMS personnel smelled the odor associated with alcohol on Mr. Ortega-Santos’ breath. The result of the blood alcohol draw from Baptist Hospital East was .200. The case will be arraigned in Jefferson County Circuit Court Div. 1 on Tuesday July 5, 2016 at 8:30am. Jessica D. Price – 13CR2253 (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Abuse of a Corpse)
- Ms. Price (DOB 07/05/84) is charged in connection with the August 8, 2013 death of her newborn child. The baby was discovered in a trash can at a local Kohl’s store. A status conference is scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 1:00pm in Division 6 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Alicia Gomez is the prosecutor.
Joshua James Edward Young – 16CR1596 (Receiving Stolen Property over $500.00, Following another Vehicle Too Closely)
- The defendant (DOB 01/06/96) first acquired notoriety when he faced trial for the beating death of his 14 year-old step-brother. He was acquitted of those charges at jury trial. This plea is for an unrelated event which occurred on 4/19/16. The defendant was observed operating vehicle on I-64 following another vehicle too closely. The registration was run and the vehicle was stolen out of Louisville. Traffic stop was initiated and he was ordered out of the car. The keys to the vehicle were found in the car. The defendant was Mirandized and stated that the vehicle belongs to his ex-girlfriend and that he picked it up this morning. The female passenger gave conflicting account saying that defendant had been in possession of the vehicle for several days. Police continued their investigation from there. The Arraignment and Plea will occur in Jefferson County Circuit Court Div. 4 on July 7, 2016 at 10:15. Emily Cecil is the prosecutor.
