GUILTY VERDICTS

Kevin Michael Boyd and Thomas Edward Davidson – 13CR3242 (Complicity to Robbery in the First Degree [31 counts], Possession of a Handgun By a Convicted Felon [1 count for each], and Persistent Felony Offender In the First Degree [1 count for each]).

  • Messrs. Boyd (DOB 3/12/74) and Davidson (DOB 12/11/67) were found guilty after a jury trial of fourteen (14) counts each of Robbery In the First Degree. This case involved the string of fifteen (15) restaurant robberies that occurred between October 23, 2013 and December 2, 2013 in the Louisville area. The defendants were arrested after being caught in the act of robbing at gunpoint the employees of the Denny’s Restaurant located at 4030 Dutchman’s Lane on December 2, 2013.  Trial began Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Division One of the Jefferson Circuit Court and concluded on Monday, October 5, 2015. The Jury also found each defendant guilty of being a Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree. The Jury recommended a total sentence of thirty (30) years for each defendant. Boyd and Davidson will not be eligible to see the parole board until 2033. Formal sentencing will occur on December 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Division 1 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Stacy Greive, David Erhart, and Josh Waldrop are the prosecutors.

ARRAIGNMENTS

Badu, Alune – 15CR2671 (Murder)

  • The defendant is charged with the Murder of Rassoul Hanne on September 30, 2015.  This offense occurred at the apartment the defendant and Mr. Hanne shared at 5114 Crafty Drive.  Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m. in Division 7 of Jefferson Circuit Court.   Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

Cornelius Miller – 15CR2387 (2 counts of Rape in the First Degree, Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Miller (DOB 4/8/59) has been indicted for two sexual assaults that occurred on August 21, 2015 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Cemetery and on September 1, 2015 at Bethany Lane Cemetery.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for October 14, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court.   Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.

Carlos Stone – 15CR2670 (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Mr. Stone (DOB 01/04/1977) is charged in connection with the September 29, 2015, shooting death of Annquonette Starr. Mr. Stone was arraigned on October 8, 2015. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, at 9:30 a.m. in Division 10 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Alicia Gomez is the prosecutor.

Eric D. Wheless – 15CR2634 (Criminal Attempt Murder, Robbery in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Mr. Wheless (DOB 02/17/1998) is charged in connection with the August 13, 2015 robbery and shooting of a juvenile victim which occurred in the 2600 block of Rockford Lane.  Mr. Wheless is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Division 9 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Nick Mudd is the prosecutor.

Paul Hymer – 15CR2656 (5 Counts of Distribution of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor and 20 Counts of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor.)

  • Mr. Hammond (DOB 10/11/70) is alleged to have distributed images of child pornography to undercover agents and been in possession of at least twenty images of child pornography.  Arraignment is scheduled for October 12, 2015 at 10:00am in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Molly Stanley is the prosecutor.

Mallory Pickett – 15CR2650 (Prostitution with Knowledge of HIV, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree)

  • Ms. Pickett (DOB 11/16/1987) is charged with engaging in unprotected sexual intercourse with victims despite knowing she had previously tested positive for HIV.  Ms. Pickett was arraigned on October 7, 2015 in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  A pretrial conference has been scheduled for November 17, 2015 at 9:30 a.m.  Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

William Dennison and Dominic Cloud – 15CR2022 (Robbery in the First Degree [8 counts for Dennison, 9 counts for Cloud], Robbery in the Second Degree [5 counts each defendant])

  • Dennison (DOB 9/16/96) and Cloud (DOB 5/22/97) are charged with a total of 17 business robberies in June and July of 2015. A pretrial conference is scheduled for October 14th at 9:15 a.m. in Division 11 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Brenton Stanley is the prosecutor.

Antonio Polen – 15CR1826 (Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Attempt Murder, and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon)

  • Mr. Polen (DOB 1/3/86) is alleged to have shot Mr. Joe McGuire, multiple times with a handgun, on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Economy Inn hotel, located at the 3300 block of Bardstown Road. Mr. Polen was found to be in possession of the gun after the shooting, and the gun was confirmed to be stolen. Mr. Polen is a convicted felon, and as such is not permitted to own or possess any sort of firearm or handgun. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at 9:45 a.m. in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Nick Mudd is the prosecutor.

Frederick Lamont Sheckles – 15CR2308 (Robbery in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree, Criminal Attempt Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Criminal Attempt Rape in the First Degree, Criminal Attempt Sodomy in the First Degree, Possession of a Handgun By Convicted Felon, Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, Stalking in the First Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Mr. Sheckles (DOB 11/28/94) is charged with two separate sexual assaults, one occurring on August 3, 2015, in the 1300 block of Payne Street and the second occurring on August 27, 2015, in the 11oo block of East Broadway. Mr. Sheckles was arraigned on Thursday, September 3, 2015, in Division 13 of Jefferson Circuit Court where his bond was set at $1,000,000.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 9:00 a.m.  Courtney Hardin is the prosecutor.

Christopher Priest – 15CR2264 (Robbery in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Priest (DOB 06/04/81) is charged in connection with the August 19, 2015 robbery at Kentucky Telco Federal Credit Union. A pretrial conference is scheduled for October 14, 2015, at 10:15 a.m. in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Cortney Hardin is the prosecutor.

HEARINGS

Tre Lamar Smith – 14CR0546 (Robbery I [4 counts])

  • Mr. Smith (DOB 12/8/92) is charged with the February, 2014 robberies of two convenience stores. A competency hearing is scheduled for October 14th at 1:30 p.m. in Division 13 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Brenton Stanley is the prosecutor.

Christopher L. McCullum – 15CR0968  (Murder, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Mr. McCullum (DOB 2/21/72) is charged in connection with the February 21, 2015, shooting death of Mukhtar Ahmad on I-71.  A competency hearing is scheduled on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 1:30p.m. in Division 7 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Ryan Olberding is the prosecutor.

TRIALS

Kevin Franklin – 14CR1318  (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Tampering With Physical Evidence)

  • Mr. Franklin (DOB 07/31/1991) is charged for the March 10, 2014, shooting death of Nicholas Baker. Mr. Franklin is alleged to have shot Mr. Baker at the parking lot located at 12400 Parkfield Road. Trial is scheduled to begin Monday, October 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in Division 13 of the Jefferson Circuit Court.  Nick Mudd, Frank Dahl, and Amanda Hernandez are the prosecutors.

Jarrod Weiss and Lavonna Blount – 14CR2387 (Murder (Weiss) and Tampering with Physical Evidence (both))

  • Mr. Weiss (DOB 01/10/82) is charged with the murder of Tanner Browning at the Creekside Apartments in St. Matthews on April 27, 2011. Mr. Weiss and Ms. Blount (DOB 3/29/79) are both charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence for allegedly hiding physical evidence from the murder on that same night. Trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 12, 2015, at noon in Division 3 of the Jefferson Circuit Court.   Nick Mudd and Jeff Cooke are the prosecutors.

SENTENCINGS

Dameion McLean – 13CR2156 (Reckless Homicide)

  • On September 1, 2015 Mr. McLean (DOB 06/21/1992) defendant was convicted at a trial by jury of one (1) count of reckless homicide in Division Ten of the Jefferson Circuit Court, and given a sentence of five (5) years in prison and a $10,000 fine.  Sentencing for Mr. McLean is set to be heard on October 13 at 9:45 a.m. in Division 9 of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Nick Mudd and Jennifer Murzyn-Yancey are the prosecutors.

Anthony John Jecker – 14CR1887 (Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • On September 2, 2015, Mr. Jecker (DOB 03/22/60) pleaded guilty to the July 14, 2014 murder of James Scott Tolle.   Mr. Jecker shot Mr. Tolle, Jecker’s landlord, once in the chest after a dispute over Jecker’s electric bill.  Jecker is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13th at 9:30 a.m. in Division 12 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Brenton Stanley and Ryane Conroy are the prosecutors.

Anthony W. Brigmon – 15CR0958 (Murder, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants- First Offense-Aggravating Circumstances)

  • On August 17, 2015 Mr. Brigmon (DOB 08/16/1964) pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants, First Offense, Aggravating Circumstances and agreed to a sentence of seven years.  The charges arose out of the March 15, 2015 motor vehicle accident which resulted in  the death of Stephanie Goebel, a passenger in the motor vehicle Brigmon was operating when it crashed and overturned.  Brigmon is scheduled to be sentenced on October 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Division 9 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Alex Gaddis is the prosecutor.
