According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment.  If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.

SIGNIFICANT EVENTS (Past week)

Kelly Lynn South – 15CR2846 (Incest, Sodomy I (Two Counts), Sex Abuse I (Five Counts))

  • Ms. South (DOB 01/06/77) was indicted by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 for admitted sexual contact with her son while he was between the ages of four and seven years old.  When indicted, the Grand Jury Judge issued an arrest warrant that was executed on Tuesday, October 27, 2015.  Ms. South was arraigned Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Division 6 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  A pre-trial conference is set for December 14, 2015 at 9:30.  Courtney Straw is the prosecutor.

Derek Roark – 15CR2875 (Tampering with Physical Evidence, Abuse of a Corpse, Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Roark (DOB 10/15/76) is charged with placing the body of Jeffrey Kingdon (DOB 11/30/59) in a box he built for that purpose, and then dumping the box containing Mr. Kingdon’s body in an uninhabited wooded area near South Park Road, sometime between October 10 and October 13, 2015.  This case was indicted by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on October 29 and Mr. Roark was arraigned today.  A pretrial conference has been scheduled for December 9, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. in Division 2 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.

Ronda Ann Salter – 15CR1584 (Arson in the Second Degree, Burglary in the Second Degree, Torture of a Dog or Cat with Serious Physical Injury or Death, Arson in the Third Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence).

  • Ronda Ann Salter (DOB 12/22/1986) was charged in connection with the arson of a home located at 1342 Berry Blvd., in which she rented a room.   Ms. Salter pledpleaded guilty to the indictment as charged against her in Division 5 of the Jefferson Circuit Court on Friday, October 30, 2015.  She agreed to serve a 13-year sentence.  Her sentencing will be held in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court on December 17, 2015 at 9:45 a.m.  Alex Gaddis is the prosecutor.

ARRAIGNMENTS

Shadi Abdel Fattah Alfouri, Naser Alfawair, Mohammed Faory, Thamir Faory, Fadi Faori, Kassim Mohammed – 15CR2855 (Criminal Syndication, Engaging in Organized Crime; Unlawful Use or Investment of Drug Related Income, Criminal Simulation in the First Degree, Trafficking in Synthetic Drugs, Illegal Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia).

  • The defendants Alfouri (DOB 11/22/85), Alfawair (DOB 05/11/68), M. Faory (DOB 06/01/65), T. Faory (DOB 05/11/91), Faori (DOB 04/26/83) and Mohammed (DOB 05/01/90) are charged with selling and providing large amounts of synthetic drugs (aka “Spice”) through “smoke shops” in the Louisville community, in addition to possessing and selling large amounts of drug paraphernalia and other items.  The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2nd, 2015 in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.   Frank Dahl is the prosecutor.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

Deontae D. Yarnell – 15CR2214 (Murder)

  • Mr. Yarnell (DOB 7/23/1993), is charged with the August 8, 2015, shooting death of Mr. Deandre Murphy near 5241 Halsey Court. A Pretrial Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2015, at 8:45 a.m. in Division 3 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Jennifer Murzyn Yancey is the prosecutor.

HEARINGS

Christopher L. McCullum – 15CR0968  (Murder, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Mr. McCullum (DOB 2/21/72) is charged in connection with the February 21, 2015, shooting death of Mukhtar Ahmad on I-71.  A competency hearing is scheduled on Friday, November 6, 2015, at 1:30p.m. in Division 7 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Ryan Olberding is the prosecutor.

TRIALS

Anthony Lashaun Chinn – 14CR3379/15CR2662 (Robbery in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Attempt Murder, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Chinn (DOB 10/23/77) is charged with involvement in a November 11, 2014 shooting that occurred on the 600 block of South 39th A trial is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Division Seven of Jefferson Circuit Court. Brenton Stanley is the prosecutor.

Tevin Antoine – 14CR2666 (Robbery I (4 counts))

  • Mr. Antoine (DOB 08/29/92) is charged in relation to four business robberies which all occurred within one hour on October 5, 2014. He is the first of three co-defendants to be tried for the charges. A jury trial is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Division 3 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Steve Blandford and Jim Lesousky are the prosecutors.

SIGNIFICANT EVENTS (Past week)

Heather Lovy, Sonny Tweedy and Tyler Tweedy 15CR1752 (Complicity to Burglary in the Second Degree (2 counts S. Tweedy and 2 counts S. Tweedy and T. Tweedy), Burglary in the Second Degree (1 count S. Tweedy), Fleeing or Evading Police in the First Degree (1 count T. Tweedy), and Receiving Stolen Property (1 count Lovy and 1 count S. Tweedy), Tampering with Physical Evidence (1 count Lovy and T. Tweedy), Facilitation to Burglary in the Second Degree (1 count Lovy) and Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree (1 count S. Tweedy)).

  • Father and son, Sonny Tweedy (DOB 5/2/1972) and Tyler Tweedy (DOB 11/12/1993) were charged in connection with multiple burglaries that occurred on Eastern Parkway, in Audubon Park, and the Highlands.   Two children were hiding in an upstairs bathroom during the last burglary.  The children called 911, and when the police arrived, Tyler Tweedy fled in a car, and Sonny Tweedy was apprehended after jumping out of a second floor window.  Tyler’s girlfriend, Heather Lovy (DOB 1/29/1994) was found to be in possession of more than $500 worth of belongings stolen from the Tweedys’ victims.  The defendants entered guilty pleas on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Division 12 of Jefferson Circuit Court.   Sonny Tweedy agreed to an 11 year sentence which he also agreed to begin serving immediately.  Tyler Tweedy agreed to a 5 year sentence and will be formally sentenced on December 4, 2015 at 9:15 a.m.  Lovy agreed to a 3 year sentence and was allowed to enter the diversion program.  The defendants also agreed to pay restitution to the victims as a part of their plea agreements.  Alex Gaddis is the prosecutor.

James O’Bannon – 14CR0776 (Murder, Assault in the First Degree (3 counts), Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 2nd offense, Possession of Marijuana, No Insurance and Persistent Felony Offender First Degree)

  • Mr. O’Bannon (DOB 02/18/1963) is charged in relation to a fatal collision that occurred on March 14, 2014, which resulted in the death of 5-month old Ivani Ingram, and caused serious injuries to other passengers in the vehicle.  On Thursday, October 22, 2015 O’Bannon was found guilty of  Murder, Assault in the First Degree (2 counts), Assault in the Second Degree, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree ( 2 counts), Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Possession of Marijuana and also found to be a Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree following a jury trial in Division 8 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  The jury recommended a sentence of 25 years. Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.

ARRAIGNMENTS

Daniel L. Colvin – 15CR2729 (Assault II and Criminal Abuse I)

  • Mr. Colvin (DOB 8/18/1988) is charged with injuring his two month old infant.  The infant was found to have two lacerations to her head, a fractured skull, and several broken ribs when taken to the hospital on August 20, 2015.  He failed to appear for arraignment on Monday, October 19th and the Grand Jury Arrest Warrant remains outstanding.  His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:30 in Division 11 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Courtney Straw is the prosecutor.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

Robert Baldwin – 15CR1750 (Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, PFO 1st Degree)

  • Mr. Baldwin (DOB 6/30/1979) is charged with the May 2nd home invasion at 7903 Wooded Ridge Drive. Mr. Baldwin, along with two unidentified co-defendants, entered the home of the victim, armed with a handgun. When Mr. Baldwin was confronted by the victim, a struggle ensued, whereby the victim was repeatedly attacked and suffered a laceration to his head. All three suspects eventually fled. Mr. Baldwin was located with the assistance of the LMPD canine unit approximately 3/10ths of a mile from the crime in a wooded area. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at 9:30 P.M. in Division 13 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Nick Mudd and Cortney Hardin are the prosecutors.

Carlos Beauchamp, Jaquae Sanders, & Luretta Lynn Todd – 14CR1561 (Complicity to Murder- All; Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon- Beauchamp)

  • Mr. Beauchamp (DOB 5/12/81), Mr. Sanders (DOB 9/21/93), and Ms. Todd (DOB 3/19/85) are charged in connection with the June 3, 2014,  shooting death of Keith Lane in the 1100 block of South 8th Street.  A Pretrial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Jennifer Murzyn Yancey and Stacy Grieve are the prosecutors.

Vincent Dooley – 15CR0588 (Murder, Trafficking in Marijuana While in Possession of a Firearm)

  • Mr. Dooley (DOB: 1/24/1979) is charged with the February 18, 2015, murder of Mr. Thomas McKinney Jr. at 304 South Ewing Avenue, in the Clifton neighborhood. The defendant was also found to be allegedly trafficking in Marijuana while possessing a firearm at the time he was arrested. An immunity hearing on the defendant’s motion for immunity pursuant to KRS 503.085 was previously heard and denied by the Court. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. in Division 2 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Nick Mudd is the prosecutor.

Michael Amos Connard – 15CR1985  (Assault in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree while wearing body armor, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon while wearing body armor (2 counts), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree while wearing body armor, Impersonating a Peace Officer (2 counts))

  • Mr. Connard (4/7/88) was indicted in connection with the June 22, 2015 assault on victim Donta Johnson. The defendant allegedly approached Mr. Johnson, and identified himself as a federal agent. He then pulled out a handgun and accused Mr. Johnson of damaging his car. During the offense, the defendant was wearing a badge around his neck. He then shoved Mr. Johnson into a fence and then onto the ground. The defendant then held a handgun to Mr. Johnson’s side until eventually fleeing. As a result of the assault, Mr. Johnson sustained an injury to his left temple. The defendant then fled on foot. A short time later, while wearing body armor, approached Mr. Jonathan Shelton and struck Mr. Shelton in the head with a handgun. During the assault, the defendant displayed a badge, identifying himself as a federal agent. The defendant then pointed a handgun at Mr. Shelton. The defendant then holstered the handgun, and produced a second handgun from his left pocket which he used to strike Mr. Shelton in the head, causing a severe laceration.   A pre-trial conference is set for Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 9:30 a.m.  Nick Mudd is the prosecutor.

Kenneth Leon Pope – 15CR1906 (Murder, Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)

  • Mr. Pope (DOB 5/12/98) is charged with the July 4, 2015, shooting death of Mr. Tyron Jones in the 400 block of South 12th Street. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Jennifer Murzyn Yancey is the prosecutor.

HEARINGS

Michael A. Thornton – 15CR2660 (Burglary in the Second Degree [Two Counts], Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [Two Counts], Assault in the Third Degree, Theft By Unlawful Taking Over $500 [Two Counts], Receiving Stolen Property Over $500 [Three Counts], Fleeing or Evading Police in the First Degree [Three Counts], Obscuring the Identity of a Machine Over $500, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, , Escape in the Second Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree- Heroin, and Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Thornton (DOB 5/10/84) is charged with multiple offenses that occurred between December 15, 2014 and January 24, 2015. When officers found the defendant he was driving a stolen vehicle, fled from police, fought with officers, and had in his possession stolen property. A Status Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. in Division 13 of  Jefferson Circuit Court. Jennifer Murzyn Yancey is the prosecutor.

Tyrone Mack – 12CR0006, 12CR2032, (Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Wanton Engenderment 1st Degree (2 counts))

  • Mr. Tyrone Mack (DOB 08/06/1993) and Mr. Patrick Griffith (DOB 07/04/1994) are charged with the November 13, 2011, shooting where they allegedly fired shots into a car occupied by Mr. Stephen Bowan and two other individuals.  Mr. Bowan died as a result of a gunshot wound to the back of his head. A hearing on the defendant’s statement redactions is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. in Division 11 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  (Mr. Griffith’s case has been severed and will be tried separately)  Nick Mudd and Cortney Hardin are the prosecutors.

TRIALS

Shaheid Ditto – 14CR1400 (Murder, Burglary I, and PFO I)

  • Mr. Ditto (DOB 2/27/81), is charged for May 19, 2014 shooting death of his estranged girlfriend, Crystal Parker.  Trial is scheduled to begin Monday, October 26 at 9:30 am in Division 8 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Christie Foster is the prosecutor.

SENTENCINGS

Houston Lee Roberston Jr. – 14CR3329 (Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor (Four Counts))

  • Mr. Roberston (DOB 1/16/1970) pled guilty to the four counts on July 27, 2015 and agreed to a sentence of 5 years.  His sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 9:45 in Division 5 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Courtney Straw is the prosecutor.

Troy M. Martin – 15CR0469 (Distribution of Matter Portraying Sexual Performance by a Minor, 1st offense [2 counts], Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor [20 counts])

  • Mr. Martin (DOB 2/10/70), pled guilty to two counts of Distribution of Matter Portraying Sexual Performance by a Minor, 1stoffense and twenty counts of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor on September 2, 2015 and agreed to a total sentence of 6 years.  Sentencing is scheduled for October 27, 2015 at 1:00pm in Division 8 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Molly B. Stanley is the prosecutor.

SIGNIFICANT EVENTS (Past week)

Kyle T. Nunn – 14CR0584 (Theft By Deception Over $500 But Less Than $10,000 (2 counts), Forgery in the Second Degree, Theft of Identity and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)

Mr. Nunn (DOB 06/05/83) was sentenced to ten years in prison on October 14, 2015 in Division 7 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Nunn had previously entered a guilty plea to theft and forgery charges arising out of his setting up a fake benefit concert to be performed by country music artist Jason Aldean for Addie’s Army, a foundation established for the benefit of a local leukemia victim.  Nunn paid $13,700.00 in restitution to the victim at sentencing.  Steve Blandford was the prosecutor.

Stephanie Adams – 14CR2205 (Criminal Abuse in the First Degree-2 counts)

Ms. Adams (DOB 06/04/89) pled guilty on October 15, 2015 to two counts of Criminal Abuse I-2 counts for events involving her two minor twins who were at the time thirteen months old. Ms. Adams failed to provide adequate nourishment and medical care for the children. One child was classified as near fatal when admitted to Kosair Children’s Hospital and weighed only eleven pounds at thirteen months old. Ms. Adams received a six year prison sentence on each count to run concurrently for a total six year sentence and waived separate sentencing. The case was held in Division 12 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Nathan Batey was the prosecutor.

ARRAIGNMENTS

Gemehr Murphy – 15CR2711 (Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree (8 counts), Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor)

Mr. Murphy (DOB 01/18/99) is charged in connection with a volley of gunfire that struck three separate motor vehicles in the area of Wilson and Algonquin Avenues on July 30, 2015.  His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Division 9 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

Allison Moseley- 15CR2159 (Murder, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree (2 counts) and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants)

Ms. Moseley (DOB 10/12/1993) has been indicted in relation to a collision that occurred on I-264 on June 21, 2015 that resulted in the death of Cody Beard.  A pretrial conference has been scheduled for October 19, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. in Division 10 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Kristi Gray is the prosecutor.

Alvino Cornelius and Tamara Sherley  – 15CR2298 (Robbery in the First Degree [both] and Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree (3 counts)[Cornelius])

Mr. Cornelius (DOB 11/21/94) and Ms. Sherley (DOB 05/10/76) are alleged to have entered an apartment located at 403 S. 38th Street through an open window.  Once inside they demanded money and stated their intention to take property.  Defendant Cornelius fired 5 or 6 shots into the bedroom where three family members had barricaded themselves behind a door.  The victims moved the next day. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Division 12 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Critt Cunningham is the prosecutor.

TRIALS

Joseph Mitchell Carter and Sammy Douglas Gibson – 14CR0742 (Complicity to Murder, Complicity to Burglary in the Second Degree, Complicity to Tampering with Physical Evidence)

Mr. Carter (DOB  06/20/85) and Mr. Gibson (DOB 01/30/86) are charged in relation to the March 5, 2014 murder of James Newton. A jury trial is scheduled for October 19, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Division 9 of Jefferson Circuit Court. Brenton Stanley and Ryane Conroy are the prosecutors.

Thomas Terry – 15CR1322 (Robbery in the First Degree (2 Counts), Assault in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree and Intimidating a Participant in the Legal Process [all in Complicity]).

Mr. Thomas (DOB 02/15/86) and an unknown accomplice are alleged to have unlawfully entered a Shively residence in the early morning hours of July 5, 2011 and robbed the couple that lived there.  The man of the house was shot during a struggle.  More than a year later, DNA from blood left at the scene was linked to defendant.  Jury Trial is scheduled for Monday, October 19th at 1:30 p.m. in Division 2 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Alex Gaddis is the prosecutor.

Derrick Decker  – 13CR1260 (Complicity to Burglary in the First Degree, Receiving Stolen Property Over $500 and Receiving Stolen Firearm)

Mr. Decker (DOB 04/02/89) is charged with the December 31, 2013, burglary of the home of a Louisville Metro Police Department detective where he stole a firearm, among several other items. A trial is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, at 9:30 a.m. in Division 6 of the Jefferson Circuit Court.  Nick Mudd and Stephany Hunter are the prosecutors.
