According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment.  If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.

ARRAIGNMENT

Todd Byrd and Monica Mudd, 15CR1748 (Capital Murder, Kidnapping (Victim Death), Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree–Methamphetamine)

  • Mr. Byrd (DOB 9/27/69) and Ms. Mudd (DOB 12/30/92) are charged with the murder and kidnapping of Ms. Meagan Hassler on June 17, 2015. This offense occurred in Jefferson County and Ms. Hassler’s body was found in Bullitt County on June 23, 2015. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, June 29, at 2:30 p.m. in Division Eleven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

Trice Alexander Whaley, 15CR1742 (Murder, Robbery in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Intimidating a Participant in the Legal Process, and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)

  • Mr. Whaley (DOB 7/9/93) is charged with robbing and killing Mr. Brandon Bryant on June 11, 2015.  Mr. Bryant’s body was found in an alley behind 3014 W. Chestnut Street. Arraignment occurred on Thursday, June 25, in Division Six of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Whaley remains in custody with a bond of $250,000. A pretrial conference has been scheduled for Monday, July 27, at 9:15 a.m. in Division Six of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.

Edward Raymond Baker, III and Danielle Elizabeth Boucher, 15CR1735 (Torture of a Dog with Serious Physical Injury or Death [Six Counts])

  • Mr. Baker (DOB 3/22/93) and Ms. Boucher (DOB 5/29/89) are charged in connection with the deaths of five dogs and inflicting serious physical injury to another. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, June 29, at 11:00 a.m. in Division Six of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Ryan W. Becker is the prosecutor.

Robert Baldwin, 15CR1750 (Robbery in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Baldwin (DOB 6/30/79) is charged with the May 2, 2015, home invasion of the residence of Mr. Kevin Osting. During the home invasion Mr. Baldwin, along with two unidentified co-defendants, assaulted Mr. Osting. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, June 29, at 3:30 p.m. in Division Thirteen of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Nick Mudd and Ms. Cortney Hardin are the prosecutors.

HEARING

Ricky Lewis Kelly, 14CR2146 (Murder)

  • Mr. Kelly (DOB 11/18/70) is charged with killing Mr. Lajuante Jackson in August of 2005. A hearing on Mr. Kelly’s motion to exclude the death penalty is scheduled for July 2, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Division Ten of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Elizabeth Jones Brown and Mr. Nick Mudd are the prosecutors.

 Jerard Garrett and Billy Richardson, 13CR0744 (Murder and Robbery in the First Degree)

  • Messrs. Garrett (9/24/81) and Richardson (DOB 9/13/89) are charged with the December 23, 2012, shooting death of Mr. Kenneth Forbes, Jr. Mr. Forbes was killed while in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Beverage World located at 4048 Dixie Highway. A Daubert Hearing regarding ballistics testing in this case is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, at 9:30 a.m. in Division Two of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Messrs. Messrs. Nick Mudd and Steve Blandford are the prosecutors.

Jerard Garrett & Billy Richardson, 13CR0246 (Murder and Robbery in the First Degree — Garrett and Richardson; Wanton Endangerment and Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree – Garrett)

  • Messrs. Garrett (9/24/81) and Richardson (DOB 9/13/89) are charged with the December 29, 2012, shooting death of Jaime Young. A Daubert Hearing regarding ballistics testing in this case is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, at 9:30 a.m. in Division Two. Messrs. Nick Mudd and Steve Blandford are the prosecutors.

Shawn Coogle, 15CR1564 (Murder, Assault in the First Degree [3 counts], Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [3 counts], Criminal Mischief in the First Degree)

Mr. Coogle (DOB 9/15/82) is charged in connection with the May 17, 2014, collision on Terry Road that resulted in the death of seven-year old Ella Ralph and serious physical injuries to three other victims. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. in Division Six of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Jennifer Murzyn is the prosecutor.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCE

Fahed Abu-Diab, Fatima Abu-Diab, Tyrone D. Thomas and Tony Ha, 15CR1332

  • Mr. Fahed Abu-Diab has been charged with the following offenses: Murder, thirteen counts of Robbery in the First Degree, Trafficking in Marijuana (more than 8 ounces, but less than five pounds), Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500, and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree — Alprazolam (20 dosage units or more).
  • Ms. Fatima Abu-Diab has been charged with the following offenses: Murder, ten counts of Robbery in the First Degree, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree (Heroin), Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), and Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam).
  • Mr. Tyrone D. Thomas has been charged with the following offenses: Murder and ten counts of Robbery in the First Degree.
  • Mr. Tony Ha has been charged with the following offenses: three counts of Robbery in the First Degree and Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at 9:15 a.m. in Division Six of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Shelly L. Alvey and Ms. Elizabeth Jones Brown are the prosecutors.

Roy Thompson, 15CR0288 (Murder, Assault in the First Degree [3 counts], Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [3 counts], Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle on Revoked/Suspended Operator’s License, No Motor Vehicle Insurance, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants- Second offense, and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)

Mr. Thompson (DOB 5/4/87) is charged in connection with the January 18, 2015 collision on Dixie Highway that resulted in the death of Ms. Shelley Hurt and serious physical injuries to three other victims. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, at 9:30 a.m. in Division Eleven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Jennifer Murzyn is the prosecutor.

Jerry Weatherford, 15CR0251 (Murder, Rape in the First Degree)

Mr. Weatherford (DOB 8/1/1943) is charged with the Murder and Rape of Harriet Hardy on August 4, 1980.  This offense occurred at Ms. Hardy’s home located at 521 Oxford Place in St. Matthews.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23rd at 9:15 am in Division 13 of the Jefferson Circuit Court.   Ryane Conroy is the prosecutor.

Yussuan Chavao Chamizo, 14CR1657. (Burglary In the First Degree, Receiving Stolen Property over $500 But Less than $10,000 and Tampering With Physical Evidence).

Mr. Chamizo (DOB 11/22/1982) is charged in connection with the June 21, 2014 roof top burglary of the Genesis Diamonds Store located at 4600 Shelbyville Rd. The defendant, along with two others, gained access to the roof of the store and cut a hole through the roof.  The defendant and the two others used a rope to climb down into the ceiling area. From there, they broke a hole through the ceiling and continued down the rope into the store. The suspects stole hundreds of thousands in jewelry and then exited the store via the same method as entry. The suspects fled the store via the roof as officers were arriving on scene.   A pretrial conference is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. in Division 1 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Stacy Greive is the prosecutor.

Edward T. Paulin, 15CR1344. (Assault II and Criminal Abuse in the First Degree)

Mr. Paulin (DOB 2/26/1995) is charged in connection with injuries sustained by his four-week-old son on March 17, 2015.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. in Division 9 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Chris Foster is the prosecutor.

Ramon Dewayne Lindsay, 14CR3026. (Assault I, Criminal Attempt Murder, Possession of a Handgun By Convicted Felon and Persistent Felony Offender I)

Mr. Lindsay (DOB 9/2/1976) is charged with the October 18, 2014 shooting of Yvonne Grant whereby the victim sustained life-threatening injuries.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2015 at 8:30 A.M. in Division 7 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Adrienne Henderson is the prosecutor.

Quinton R. Huddleston, 14CR1620. (Murder, Criminal Attempt Murder, Assault I, Burglary I, Wanton Endangerment I and Violation of Protective Order)

Mr. Huddleston (DOB 9/9/1991) is charged with the June 16, 2014 shooting death of Joshua Gordon and the shooting of Gordon’s sister, Tanisha Gordon.  A pretrial conference is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in Division 7 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Chris Foster is the prosecutor.

HEARING

John Robinson, III, 12CR3171. (Murder)

Mr. Robinson (DOB 3/29/1995) was convicted of Murder for the September 8, 2012 stabbing death of Darnisha Peoples and was sentenced to 25 years to serve on December 5, 2012.   As a youthful offender he was eligible for probation and has filed a motion for shock probation.  A hearing on the shock probation motion is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 9:00 A.M. in Division 7 of Jefferson Circuit Court.  Alicia Gomez is the prosecutor.

  • Mr. Watson (DOB 3/14/60) is charged in connection with a series of thefts from the Village Anchor restaurant while he was employed as its general manager. Arraignment is scheduled to occur Monday, June 15, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. in Division Thirteen of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Jeff Cooke is the prosecutor.

Sammy Louden and Cody Wilder, 15CR1589 (Robbery in the First Degree)

  • Messrs. Louden (DOB 6/11/90) and Wilder (DOB 4/27/93) are charged in connection with a April 4, 2015, robbery which occurred near the intersection of Third and West Amherst streets. Arraignment is scheduled to occur Monday, June 15, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. in Division Nine of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Ryan W. Becker is the prosecutor.
