According to the Rules of Criminal Procedure (RCr 3.02, 3.05, and 8.01), the arraignment of individuals whose case has been submitted directly to the grand jury shall take place within a reasonable time after the return of an indictment.  If you are interested in a case that has been submitted directly to the grand jury, then please contact the court division in which it has been assigned to obtain the time and date of the arraignment.

HEARING

Trey Anderson, Michael Dunn Jr., Duwan Mason, William McLemore, and Demarkus Tramber, 15CR1328 (Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Attempt Murder [10 counts], Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [9 counts])

  • Anderson (DOB 2/5/94), Dunn (DOB 10/6/89), Mason (DOB 10/13/86), McLemore (DOB 7/24/95), and Tramber (DOB 11/16/94) are charged with Murder for shooting and killing 16 month old Ne’Rhiah Miller on August 27, 2014. They are also charged with Assault for shooting Ne’Rhiah’s mother and attempting to kill, and endangering the lives of other individuals. This offense occurred on South 37th Street at approximately 6:00 p.m. A bond hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in Division Seven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. A status conference concerning Messrs. McLemore and Tramber is scheduled for that same date following the bond hearing in Division Ten of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Ryane Conroy and Ms. Adrienne Henderson are the prosecutors.

Jurmaine Henderson, 15CR0936 (Murder, Failure to Stop and Render Aid/Assistance, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [3 counts], Operating a Motor Vehicle Without an Operator’s License, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants- First offense [Aggravated Circumstances], Improper Turn, and Failure to Secure Child in Child Restraint Device [2 counts])

  • Mr. Henderson (DOB 7/3/79) is charged in connection with the March 21, 2015, collision in the 3900 block of 7th Street Road that resulted in the death of James Walker, III and risk of death or serious physical to three other people, including two children.  A Pretrial Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, at 9:00 a.m. in Division Ten of the Jefferson Circuit Court.  Ms. Jennifer Murzyn is the prosecutor.

Percy A. Phillips, 09CR3016. (Murder and Robbery in the First Degree)

  • Phillips (DOB 8/1/64) is charged in connection with the murder of Brenda Whitfield on September 28, 1993.  A suppression hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Division One of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Shelly Alvey and Ms. Cortney Hardin are the prosecutors.

VERDICT

Luis Marcano-Tanon, 13CR3409 (Robbery in the First Degree [three counts])

  • Marcano-Tanon (DOB 8/15/77) was convicted this afternoon for a business robbery that occurred at the McAlister’s Deli located at 4675 Outer Loop on December 13, 2013. Mr. Marcano-Tanon was convicted of three counts of Robbery in the First Degree. The penalty phase of the trial is set to occur on Monday, June 1, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. in Division Six of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Alex Gaddis and Ms. Erin McKeznie are the prosecutors.

HEARING

Na’Shawn Mills, 13CR1859 (Murder, Criminal Attempt Murder, Robbery in the First Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)

  • Mr. Mills (DOB 2/18/92) is charged in connection with the July 1, 2013, shooting death of Mr. Brandon Shackelford, and the attempted shooting of Mr. Dewayne Hill, Jr. Mr. Mills is alleged to have shot Mr. Shackelford in his car on the 8500 block of Beulah Church Road and fired a shot in the direction of Mr. Hill. After the shooting, Mills drove the victim’s car, along with his body, to Cox’s park where he attempted to set the car on fire in order to dispose of the evidence. A hearing on Mr. Mills’ motion to suppress his statement to police is scheduled for March 27, 2015, at 9:45 in Division Nine of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Elizabeth Jones Brown is the prosecutor.

Charles A. Washington and Jevon Harris-Curry, 13CR2250 (Complicity to Murder, Robbery First Degree, Burglary First Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Washington (DOB 3/2/93 and Harris-Curry (DOB 4/18/92) are charged for the August 12, 2013, home invasion and murder of Mr. P.J. Barber. Further, the pair were assisted in their crimes by Messrs. Shakaheen O. Boyd and Timothy Cross. Messrs. Boyd and Cross have previously pled guilty for their involvement in these crimes. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in Division Four of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Nick Mudd is the prosecutor.

William Sexton, 15CR0938 (Robbery in the First Degree)

  • Mr. Sexton (DOB 7/14/84) is charged in connection with the March 27, 2015, robbery at Kutes Liquors in Jeffersontown. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Friday, May 29, at 9:15 a.m. in Division Eleven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Jennifer Murzyn is the prosecutor.

Ariana Butler, Thomas Mikels, & Lawrence Thompson, 15CR1024(Robbery in the First Degree and Tampering With Physical Evidence)

  • Messrs. Mikels (DOB 9/19/81), Thompson (DOB 10/11/79), and Ms. Butler (DOB 7/17/89) are charged in connection with the March 27, 2015, robbery at Kutes Liquors in Jeffersontown. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Friday, May 29, at 9:15 a.m. in Division Eleven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Jennifer Murzyn is the prosecutor.

Derrick Akins, 14CR2926 (Assault in the First Degree [two counts] and Assault in the Second Degree)

  • Akins (DOB 10/02/72) is charged for acts of domestic violence against Ms. Andrea Furnish in October and November of 2014. A suppression hearing is scheduled for May 26, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. in Division Twelve of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Nathan Batey is the prosecutor.

SENTENCING

Conrai A. Kaballah – 11CR2821  (Murder [2 Counts], Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Tampering with Physical Evidence)

  • Kaballah (DOB 2/1/90) was convicted for the August 6, 2008, shooting deaths of Takeisha Huff and Marion Jones in the Sheppard Square housing complex. On March 18, 2015, the jury fixed the sentence for these crimes at life without the possibility of parole for twenty-five years. Formal sentencing is scheduled to occur of May 29, 2015, at 9:00 in Division One of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Messrs. Ryan Olberding and James Lesousky are the prosecutors.

Arraignment of the new indictment is scheduled to occur Monday, May 18, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. in Division Seven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Ryane Conroy and Ms. Adrienne Henderson are the prosecutors.

Miranda Courtney Daniels, 15CR1331 (Theft By Deception Over $10,000, Unlawful Access to a Computer in the First Degree, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card Over $500 But Less Than $10,000, Theft By Deception Over $500 But Less Than $10,000 [three counts], and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree [two counts])

  • Daniels (DOB 12/14/82) is charged in connection with a theft from her former employer, the Captain’s Quarter’s Restaurant. She is also charged with a theft related to the Fern Creek Optimist Cheerleading Program. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. in Division Nine of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Stacy Greive is the prosecutor.

Larry Wayne Lewis, 15CR1350 (Rape in the First Degree [seven counts], Sexual Abuse in the First Degree [two counts], Sodomy in the First Degree [four counts], Unlawful Transaction with a Minor in the First Degree [two counts], Incest [seven counts], Use of a Minor in a Sexual Performance [two counts], Criminal Attempt Sodomy in the First Degree, and Distribution of Obscene Matter to Minors [two counts])

  • Lewis (DOB 2/11/49) has been charged with the above listed offenses by the Jefferson County Grand Jury. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. in Division Seven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Nathan Batey is the prosecutor.

Jennifer Reed 15CR1352 (Assault in the First Degree, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree [two counts], Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants – Third Offense, Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance, Improperly Turning/Driving Lane or Entering Limited Access, Failure to Wear Seat Belt, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree)

  • Reed (DOB 6/10/70) has been charged with the above listed offenses by the Jefferson County Grand Jury. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Division Four of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Nathan Batey is the prosecutor.

James Carl Renn Sr., 15CR1318 Rape of a Child Over Twelve, Rape of a Child Under Twelve [four counts], Indecent or Immoral Practices with a Another [six counts], and Incest [five counts])

  • Renn (DOB 9/28/33) has been charged with the above listed offenses by the Jefferson County Grand Jury. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2015, at 8:30 in Division One of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Mr. Nathan Batey is the prosecutor.

HEARING

Ricky Lewis Kelly, 14CR2146 (Murder)

  • Kelly (DOB 11/18/70) is charged with killing Mr. Lajuante Jackson in August of 2005. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for May 21, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Division 10. Ms. Elizabeth Jones Brown and Mr. Nick Mudd are the prosecutors.

Andre Cortez Lewis, 14CR2515 (Robbery in the First Degree [4 counts], Assault in the First Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon [4 counts]; Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Giving a Peace Officer a False Name or Address, and Persistent Felony Offender in the First Degree)

  • Lewis (DOB 12/23/98) is charged in connection with a July 2014, string of armed robberies in the vicinity of the University of Louisville Dental School and University of Louisville Hospital. He is also charged with the July 28, 2014, robbery and shooting of an employee of the Dental School. A final pretrial conference is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in Division Nine of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Erin McKenzie is the prosecutor.

Lee Ernspiker, 14CR3071 (Sodomy in the First Degree [two counts], Incest [two counts], and Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration)

  • Ernspiker (DOB 5/3/75) is charged with having deviate sexual intercourse with his four-year-old biological daughter. Moreover, he is also charged with not being compliant with the Sex Offender Registry. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Monday, May 18, at 9:30 a.m. in Division Six of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Alicia Gomez is the prosecutor.

William Crockett, 15CR0057 (Murder, Burglary in the First Degree)

  • Crockett (DOB 12/19/61) is charged in connection with the January 1, 2015, shooting death of Ms. Anna Fisher. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Friday, May 22, at 9:30 a.m. in Division Twelve of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Alicia Gomez is the prosecutor.

Roy Thompson, 15CR0288 (Murder, Assault in the First Degree [3 counts], Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree [3 counts], Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle on Revoked/Suspended Operator’s License, No Motor Vehicle Insurance, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants- Second offense, and Persistent Felony Offender in the Second Degree)

  • Mr. Thompson (DOB 5/4/87) is charged in connection with the January 18, 2015, collision on Dixie Highway that resulted in the death of Ms. Shelley Hurt and serious physical injuries to three other victims. A Pretrial Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, at 9:30 a.m. in Division Eleven of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Jennifer Murzyn is the prosecutor.

Matthew Blair, 15CR0544 (Distribution of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor and Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor [20 counts])

  • Blair (DOB 7/26/1985) is charged with distribution and possession of child pornography. A pretrial conference is scheduled for May 20, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Division One of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Alicia Gomez is the prosecutor.

TRIAL

Joshua K. Spenton, 14CR2024 (Theft By Deception Over $500 But Less Than $10,000 and Official Misconduct In the First Degree)

  • Mr. Spenton (DOB 4/30/74) has been charged with unlawfully depriving the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections of funds to which he was not entitled by working off duty employment at the time that he was clocked in, but not working at, the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. A trial is tentatively scheduled for May 19, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. in Division One of the Jefferson Circuit Court. Ms. Stacy Greive is the prosecutor.
